The link to my food site above has the story of a new film that is celebrating Enoteca Maria – with Vince Vaughn overseeing these “acting Nonnas”: Susan Sarandon, Talia Shire, Brenda Vaccaro and Lorraine Bracco – a new film that tells the story of the very real and thriving “Nonnas” restaurant!
Here is the trailer:
Vince plays Jody, and the star-studded cast digs into life in the kitchen…the true story of a Staten Island restaurant that only hires grandmothers – “Nonnas” – to work in the kitchen….it’s a heartwarming film that is funny, poignant and will make you very hungry in the best way!
I love this story – keeping family recipes alive and letting these Nonnas, who have raised their families with longtime family recipes, take over the kitchen…terrific – I would love to go to this restaurant!

Just today I watched a little YouTube video on this particular restaurant and it was lovely to learn about it and the women that cook there! I think I might have to try and see this film now.
Oh, this started a rumble last night. My wife watched Nonnas without me. Geeessh!!! The lack of love. Ha, ha. I’m just kidding. The cast! Wow. Every one bigger than the last. Love it. Gotta watch their promo too on your wife’s show. Too cool that they were all together for that. I’m probably getting ahead of myself but with those actresses, I could see a Nonna’s 2. Ha. ha.
Pete, the entire cast was on my wife’s show and Vince was charming! Susan Sarandon might be the coolest person of all time and the others were just fun and engaged – and they had the real Nonnas on as well!
You can't take the Scotland out of a girl... Reel entertainment reviews and more from that Darlin Husband’s Scottish, square-eyed and film-mad wife living in Finland.
Oh, this is just wonderful! I loved the trailer.
