Nigella Joins The “Great British Bake Off” Team!
This news was announced last month, and last week I shared it on my food blog, but I wanted to share here as well because, well my favorite TV show has added an incredibly empathetic Chef!

Fans of the show know that Prue Leith decided to stop away from the show – she said that, having just turned 86 years old, she wanted to have time to enjoy her garden…and while she was a wonderful Judge, the Producers have done a fantastic job in replacing her:

Three Cheers To The “Kitchen Klutz!”
Nigella is an iconic TV Presenter, Chef and cookbook Author.
Often dubbed a “national treasure,” she is celebrated for her sensuous, relaxed approach to home cooking and her rejection of professional chef titles, famously calling herself a “kitchen klutz.”
She is perfect for the show!
Rebecca Shaw from The Guardian summed it up perfectly when she reported the news this way:
“One of my favourite people on the planet to watch on TV, joining a TV show I love and watch every season of. As a TV lover, nothing could be better. Bake Off is a wonderful, cosy, sweet, fun and delicious show. Unlike other reality competition shows (which I also love), the contestants on the show are there to make friends. I’ve enjoyed Prue Leith’s reign on the show, she is an experienced and polite woman, but I am filled with delighted anticipation about what the new season will look like with the addition of the eponymous Nigella.”
I agree wholeheartedly – let the new season begin!

I love Nigella: she is warm, empathetic, funny and down to earth – and I once shared a really unique recipe from Nigella: talk about using the stuff no one else does!

This is a banana skin curry and it looks great! See what inspired her and get the recipe here:
Over at my “Bite! Eat! Repeat!” website, I share food stories like this one, as well as recipe like this:

This is a baked chicken breast dish – all made in a single pan – with fresh sliced lemon on top and coconut rice underneath..delicious!
See the recipe here:
I also made this healthy sweet pea risotto dish as well:

Sweet Pea Risotto is delicious and healthy as well…see the recipe here:

I used to watch all Nigella’s shows and have several of her cookbooks …sadly, like so many of my hard copy recipe books are gatering dust. I really must dig them out for inspiration.
Did you see the latest edition of Master Chef? Absolutely brilliant.

Living in Australia where England is still kinda ‘Mother Country’ for us ‘oldies’ we naturally watch ALL the British cookery shows free and in prime time. Including everything Nigella Lawson does. Actually I thought she would join MasterChef when all the hassles came about with John Torode and Greg Wallace et al, but . . . I very much liked Prue Leith (and very definitely not Paul Hollywood who ‘kicked’ one of my best gfs off the show!) but time takes its toll . . . and this has been welcome news altho’ Nigella ‘just with cakes’ 🙂 ? I love many of her savoury ideas, so ? Well, she always comes down for the Australian Masterchef, so let’s hope 🙂 ! Thanks for featuring her . . .

I liked Prue a lot. But I’m interested to see this new dynamic. Love that the show continues to evolve and grow.

I am a huge fan of Prue, but I rethink she’s right when she says at 86 years old she wants to enjoy her garden…the years become finite at that age and why waste them making TV shows when it’s time to enjoy life1. Thanks for the note!

Hell, I feel that now in my late 50s!! Ha, ha. Why waste my time doing things I don’t like? How am I going to feel when I’m 86? Ha, ha. Good for her.

Yes she will be missed but I think she made the right choice…I work in TV and the schedules are brutal

I can’t even imagine. Long days of shooting. Long days of promotional stuff. Yea, it’s gotta be hard.

Nigella is a TV natural, and so amazingly attractive I could watch her reading the phone book out loud. I just hope she doesn’t end up having an affair with Paul Hollywood! 😊Shared on Twitter, John.
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, she exudes everything you want in the show…which we LOVE….I would hop that Paul understands how disastrous that sort of thing would be for the show!
