Time To Celebrate The Most Delicious Day Of The Year!
I already told you all it was “National Burger Month”, but May 28th is “National Burger Day” and I’m going to give you some of the best places to celebrate!

Behold The Smokestack!”
This is Shake Shack’s signature burger, two smashed beef patties with lots of cheese and sweet peppers, plus some added bacon – it’s just one of many great items on their menu. The hamburger stand began in New York’s Madison Square Park in 2024:

They have since spread all across America, but have lost none of the passion for special unique burgers, which I discovered when I saw this sign:

Yep, Shake Shack has a burger topped with gruyere cheese, black truffle sauce and crispy sweet onions and I say: “let’s dig in!”
I ordered one and a few minutes later I was staring at this:

That’s a beautiful looking burger! Let’s go under the hood!

OK, this was delicious! Look at the double patties covered with melted gruyere, plus the crispy sweet onions and underneath them is that special truffle sauce…it was decadent and delicious,a nd the flavor combo was spot on!

Shake Shack is always busy, but their food always comes out looking great…nicely done and the perfect burger for “National Burger Day!”
And since this is a crossover food celebration, I also have an in-depth look at another New York burger legend:

George Motz wrote an incredible journal that celebrated 150 burger joints across America. He also hosted a TV series of the same name and now, has a restaurant in New York’s West Village also carrying the name:

Inside, a wonderland of burgers, fries, sandwiches and malted awaits!
Oh, and I had George himself make me a onion smashburger…here’s a peek:
While today is National Burger Day, Motz shares a unique local burger recipe every month, and if you click here, you will take part in my blog “crossover” event – because at my food site “Bite! Eat! Repeat” I’ve got another terrific burger from Hamburger America, so special it’s topped with a green olive!
Click here to see the entire cooking experience and my review of this unique burger!
I love burgers, and on May 1 I shared a story about May being “National Burger Month” – and also told you about his terrific burger book:

Here’s a look at why burgers are so vital and culturally significant!

I don’t eat beef, so usually stick with chicken or veggie, but the selection of photos here have me reassessing that, haha! I think a really good burger, done really well (even the simplest type) can be so good.

I dont eat much meat at all – of course these burgers excluded…that said, one reason I like a “slider” is that its small, not much meat, and I also use fish and shrimp as well…thanks for the comment!

By coincidence we are going out to eat soon, in a family pub. I had already decided to have the ‘Build your own burger’, where you choose toppings and sides. It won’t be as fancy as that Truffle burger by a long way, but I will be celebrating ‘Burger Day’ for once!
Best wishes, Pete.

That sounds great Pete! I love the idea of building it yourself as you can make it the way you want with as much of any one topping that you love…no one ever puts enough pickles on for me as an example!
