Celebrating “National Cheeseburger Day” With This Culinary Work Of Art!
That my friends is a 9-patty cheeseburger – what better way to celebrate National Cheeseburger Day!
Of course, if that just too much, I have 5 great recipes you can make at home!
A “Cheese On The Outside” Burger!
I came across this a few years ago and had to try it: an everyday burger with a unique way to eat it!
First, cook your burger: I add Worcestershire sauce and a bit of diced onion to my patty, then salt and pepper it and cook it about 5 minutes per side…nothing more to add!
While it was cooking, I sliced a block of Tillamook Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese, which is a personal favorite – I put it in a pan to heat and slowly melt:
I then added a little bit of milk – how much is strictly a matter of getting the right consistency:
As you can see, I got a creamy, slickly thickened consistency because I added more cheese back and continued to stir over low heat…and of course I turned the burgers so they could finish cooking as well – then it was time to take a bun, put it on a plate, and add a nice thick slice of onion:
I also added some cooked bacon to it – totally your call, not needed at all…and now, the burger was ready to eat – after doing one more thing!
I put the patties, onion and bacon on a hefty bun and moved the cheese into a nice looking ramekin – then it was time to dip!
My Cheese-Dipped Burger Worked!
Well, this is how it turned out and it was delicious!
The “Burger Dip” is a move you have to make quick, because as the cheese cools it’s more difficult to get it to coat the burger…I think a bit runnier would have been even better.
You really have to keep a close eye on the thickness of the cheese sauce, and it takes a bit to get it coated right – but it worked an it was very tasty indeed!
Here’s the entire recipe if you want even more detail:
Next up is another way to make a unique burger: a “Juicy Lucy!”
You see, this one is a cheeseburger, with the cheese stuffed inside the burger!
I made this burger on two separate occasions, and both times the burger was a bit raw, which I like – but honestly doesn’t make it look at tempting, and the cheese was melty but not oozing too much…a bit more slow cooking would have done even better – but it was delicious regardless!
As some of you know, I have been making short videos showing the entire process and did so again here…enjoy the making of a juicy Lucy – plus my taste test here:
Here’s a burger I made to celebrate the film “Pulp Fiction” – yes, I made the “Big Kahuna” Burger made famous in the movie!
It’s easy: grill a burger – and a thick slice of pineapple as well:
Time To Grill!
I heated my outdoor grill and put the hamburger on first…after 6 minutes I flipped it, then added the pineapple and the brioche bun to toast for a minute…
I got nice grill marks on the pineapple, then put it on top of the burger for a minute, and now it was time to build a “burger base!”
I got nice, toasty grill marks on my bottom bun, and I slathered a healthy dollop of lemon mayo on the bottom, then laid some blanched asparagus down next…
Sliced cherry tomatoes were next – yes, the recipe called for a nicely sliced large tomato, but I used what I had! Then, add the burger, pineapple and lay a nice chunk of lobster on top of it all!
I will pause here to say this is already a work of “burger art”…so many vibrant colors and flavors, just waiting for a top!
The Burger Bar “Surf And Turf” Burger!
There it is: almost six inches tall, with vibrant colors and an impressive look!
I love this burger’s look: the creamy lemon mayo and the crisp green asparagus; bright red tomato, a nice medium-rare burger patty with a hint of salt and Pepper, the yellow pineapple and the bright red lobster claw!
See the entire recipe here as well as a look at the film it’s based on!
Now, don’t judge me.
DO NOT JUDGE ME.
This is my personal favorite burger of all time – one that I created while working in a hamburger stand in high school:
My “French Fry Tartar Sauce” Bacon Cheeseburger!
I love burgers. And bacon.
AND TARTAR SAUCE TOO.
So why not take care of all of my vices in one perfect bite?
Yes, I’ve been making these for years and I love them!
It’s so easy to be so happy: cook up a burger (i add diced onion and garlic to mine) and just before you finish cooking it, lay a few cooked french fries on top, then top with tartar sauce…finally, lay down a piece of cheese….i use both sharp cheddar AND Mozzarella….once it melts you are ready to bite down hard!
Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it – and you will never knock it again!

It’s fun to do as long as you kept warm enough not to congeal – which is a word you NEVER want associated with a burger! Thanks for commenting, always great to hear from you!

I was celebrating early this year, and had a cheeseburger in a restaurant for lunch on Sunday while we were still on holiday. Two burgers, cheese, bacon, onions, tomato, and lettuce. Nice crispy fries, and a green salad.
Delicious! Best wishes, Pete.
