Who Wants Some Goat Soup – From A Vending Machine?
Why am I so fascinated by Japanese vending machines? Well, because of the crazy stuff you can find in them – here’s another example!
SoraNews24 Reporter Oona McGee reports on one of the wildest vending machines in a country known for some pretty wild ones!
I just love this story!
The vending machine on the left is located on Japan’s Ishigaki Island – and one Reporter’s fascination with it has led to this.
You see, SoraNews24’s Japanese-language reporter Kouhey visited Ishigaki Island in Okinawa last year, and he got to try the specialty: goat soup!
McGee writes that her fellow Writer Kouhey returned to Ishigaki island – and as Oona reports: “discovered there was a place where he could buy the soup at any time of the day or night — from a vending machine at Misaki Center Street in Misaki Town’s Ishigaki Island Village.”
So here’s what he bought from the vending machine:
A “Goat Soup” Vending Machine – And More!
Yes, Kouhey bought Goat Soup from the machine – and something else as well.
Once he tried the Goat Soup, he topped it off with some Goat Sashimi!
YES: Goat Sashimi!
As I said at the beginning of this story, there are some wild things you can buy in Japanese vending machines – and now you can add Goat Sashimi to the list.
So how did this taste?
SoraNews24 tasted all of it, and you can see their review here!
Oh and a bit of a giveaway – they actually liked it!
So, leave me a comment and tell me: would you try it?
I would! You may know that I’ve had some wild items from Japanese vending machines myself:
Yep, FIRE COFFEE JELLY!
Here I am holding it in my “mustached days”…

You see, there is no end to the wildly imaginative stuff available in vending machines in Japan, like these:
Fresh Clams!
I mean, how convenient is that? Fresh clams at the ready when you are!

It seems there is no end to the new products available from a vending machine:
Yes, it’s hot creamed corn from a vending machine! See exactly what that means by clicking on mis tory here:
It just gets wilder – for example, have you ever been followed by someone and needed a quick disguise inn order to avoid them?

Yep, the vending machine on the far right is a fake – it’s just a protective cover – see the shoes peeking out underneath!
I’d buy that in a second!

I would love to see them in person and know I would never stop being fascinated. the creamed corn, potatoes, Mac and cheese, and clams really appeal to me –
p.s. did you two finally use up your last giant can of pandemic corn?

Thanks for that question: I still have one pandemic can of corn left…still good for another year but I need to get cooking! Happy New Year!

I am fascinated by them – since I got to see them up close and they are EVERYWHERE…what’s cool is that there are very few garbage cans in Tokyo – because people do NOT ever walk and drink or eat…if they buy a beverage from a vending machine they consume it there and recycle it in the attached container…very very clean city!

That is very interesting, John. As far as my historical knowledge of Japan goes, the Japanese have always been exemplary when it comes to hygiene and neatness.

We were fascinated by the vending machines in Japan when we were there 40 years ago. The two things that I remember are that you could buy beer from a vending machine until 1 or 2 am, and they machines selling flat shoes near clubs (for women with sore feet after wearing high heels all night).
