“Finding Reality” – I Did A Fun Podcast About Reality TV! Here’s The Link…

The Red Carpet – An Exciting Walkway For The Famous…

I grew up on the red carpet – professionally at least. I produced live coverage from the Academy Awards, Emmys, Grammys and many more award ceremonies for decades…so why am I telling you this?

Well, it’s an interesting perspective to be in that crowd of photographers with a dozen live cameras set up to capture every move, while my Hosts did “play by play” of every movement and interviewed those “sometimes very nervous” nominees…and no one did it better than Joan Rivers:

Joan stepped on the red carpet for the first time in 1994: she was an Icon, and her work on the live red carpet coverage for E! Entertainment Television changed the way awards were covered forever.

And I put her there. I just told two great guys all about it too!

“Finding Reality” Tells The Stories Of Non-Fiction TV!

I recently appeared on a new podcast call “Finding Reality”, hosted by Brenton Metzler (Executive Producer of Tiny House Nation) alongside Producer/Director/Creative Executive Dane Morck.

Brenton has worked for me as well as my wife Alex Duda many times – and these guys know reality TV from all angles and their expertise is what makes “Finding Reality” so fascinating.

The show pulls back the curtain on reality TV, giving producers, editors, crew members, and cast members a platform to share untold behind-the-scenes stories.

And I got to talk about Joan!

Joan and Melissa Rivers hosted live red carpet events for me at E! for 8 years: we went around the world doing Fashion Reviews as well…Melissa also Executive Produced those specials with me.

I appeared on the most recent episode of “Finding Reality” to talk about my career in TV, the excitement and pressure of live television, and other stories which I will get to – but first, I hope you check out the conversation.

Here’s a link to the episode on YouTube:

You can also find it on podcast networks like Spotify and Apple as well….one other thing we discussed was my time working at G4 TV:

G4 was “all things tech, video games and pop culture”, and I worked with a terrific group of talent like these four:

Adam Sessler, Morgan Webb, Kevin Periera and Olivia Munn were just 4 of the incredible people who worked there…and now there is a documentary that tells the story of this scrappy cable network:

“Attack Of The Doc” tells the story of our signature daily live show called “Attack Of The Show”, as well as stories of the network, and why it was ultimately shut down…I took part, and you can see a trailer for the movie here:

G4 also had unprecedented live coverage of E3, the electronics expo that previewed the latest video games to the world – by the end of our network’s run we were doing 25+ hours live!

G4 also aired the original episodes of the Japanese obstacle course sensation “Ninja Warrior” – I went to the taping in Tokyo 4 separate times and Kevin and Olivia actually ran the course!

That’s Olivia getting ready to run the course – what a unique experience to see it up close – you can see more here:

I mentioned that my wife Alex and I took Joan and Melissa to the Cannes Film Festival for our Fashion Review specials:

What a blast we had!

Here’s an inside look at our adventures in the south of France:
