My “Leftover Pizza” Dilemma!
We’ve all had to face this: a few leftover slices of pizza: delicious and worth savoring again, but I also had other plans that day for lunch – I had fresh hamburger…and a light bulb went off:
MASHUP!
So here’s what went down: I took these two slices of leftover pizza and combined them with some fresh hamburger, which I molded into the shape of a slice!
I seasoned it with salt and pepper only – no diced onion or garlic, which I would normally do – because today the “buns” would come packed with flavor!
I always cook my hamburger medium rare: I love the juice that runs out while I eat, and in this case the “buns” will more than soak it in – and speaking of those buns, I took off the outer crust, added a bit of fresh shredded Mozzarella to the burger patty and then this happened:
Behold The “Leftover Pizza Burger!”
There you have it: a mouthful of juicy burger, “buns” filled with red sauce, cheese, sausage and black olives!
And The Taste?
Well, how could it go wrong! It was delicious of course, because pizza is always delicious, and the juiciness of the hamburger just helped bring it all together in a fresh way!
Of course, this was much more than I could handle, so my wife Alex, along with friends Kareen and Chris each took a chunk and dug in as well and it was unanimous!
I’m always open to a “mashup” of disparate food item, like the fun combo I tried once: avocado, egg and bacon!
This picture is from a magazine that had the recipe – NOT how mine turned out!~

I also recently shared once again my favorite burger mashup of all time – the “French Fry Burger!”
Trust me, it’s incredible!
Here are more of my favorite burger mashups:

This is very innovative, John. Now, I will counter your question with my own question – when your son was a teenager, did you ever have left over pizza? When I get leftovers one day, then I’ll be able to answer your question about what I’d do with it [haha].

I would hapily eat that, as long as the leftover pizza slices were warmed up a little. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Wait…I’m a bit confused… You mixed two slices of pizza in with the hamburger and then used two more slices of pizza as the buns. Is that it? I didn’t see any pizza in the burger when you showed the sliced into shot. Did the mixed in pizza somehow cook out? Wild idea–may be worth trying some day. Cheers

Have you tried eggs over easy on pizza for breakfast?

Joe, I have NOT! I LOVE eggs and that sounds delicious…almost like an inside out frittata! However, I made a “scrambled egg hot dog” once and shared that experience: https://johnrieber.com/2019/08/02/i-made-scrambled-egg-hot-dogs-what-the-friday-my-food-mashup-asks-what-did-i-do-to-those-eggs/
