Is This The Craziest Burger Mashup Ever?
You all know that I share wild and wacky food mashups from around the world, but when my friend Bruce Evans sent me this, I thought it must have been a joke – but I was wrong!
Behold The McDonald’s Spam Oreo Burger!
It’s real everyone, and they have it in China!
McDonald’s is selling a sandwich that is made with two thick slices of Spam, which are topped with crushed Oreo cookies!
AS the Associated Press reports, this isn’t unusual for that country:
“Global brands from restaurants to automakers sometimes roll out offbeat products to appeal to Chinese tastes in the populous and intensely competitive market.”
“Offbeat” is the right word to be sure!
The AP spoke to someone who sampled this wacky sandwich – and the review was good!
“I thought it was delicious,” said a comment signed Feifei Mao Enthusiast on the Sina Weibo microblog service. “Is that because I love McDonald’s too deeply? Or is something wrong with my taste?”
In case you were wondering, this unique sandwich has two slices of Spam which are covered with crumbled Oreo cookies, then topped with mayonnaise.
Yum!
So, would you try it?
I would!
I’m open for all kinds of wacky stuff, and as you all know by now< I actually don't mind Spam – in fact, I cooked with it!
That’s right, I got a special edition can of Pumpkin Spice Spam and made some really unique bread, and if you click here you can see the recipe – and I will reveal how it tasted as well!
As for China, remember that they sell some very wacky Potato Chips:
Yes, these are “hot and sour fish skin” chips – and I would eat these, too! Click here to see their “Pepsi Chicken” potato chips as well!
The thing about China is they love their dumplings, like these:
Oh, except these are mini-cakes! Yes, there are bakeries that make their dessert sweets look like ramen, dumplings etc so you can splurge in private!
Check them out here:

I agree on this one – the Oreo cookie really makes no sense….but I’ll give them an “A” for effort! Thanks for commenting, great hearing from you!

I love a good burger, and I’m willing to try most things once. However, on this one, I’m going to have to pass.

Pete, I think I agree…not sure why the Oreo cookie is needed – oh wait, it’s not! Great hearing from you!

My ex-husband used to like eating his dessert with a piece of meat, but I think I would have to draw the line at Spam and Oreos!! Ew!

I agree with you – don’t see the appeal to a protein/sweet mashup, but to each their own, right? Thanks for commenting, love hearing from you!

That is certainly a unique flavor combination! What will they think of next? I almost hate to ask! 😉

I agree that this one, while fun to share with everyone, is a bit too much for me – since I’m not really an Oreo fan….as for Spam, you know how I feel about that!

Ummmm I’m not sure I could handle the spam but I could go for an Oreo burger (I think)!

HA! I’m the exact opposite! I’ll do Spam – in Tokyo they add it to a burger and then toss on a fried egg! Heaven on a bun! Great hearing from you!

My husband was talking about eating peanut butter and bacon sandwiches today, John, and that is an odd combination of tastes for me. People like meat with fruit sauces so meat and sweet flavours do go together.

Your husband is veering closely to Elvis Presley’s Peanut Butter, Bacon and Banana sandwich…something to sing about to be sure! Thanks as always for commenting and sharing!
