Some Positive News In The Fight Against The Coronavirus! Best Ways To Practice “Social Distancing!”

While the Coronavirus Pandemic crisis continues, there are signs that we are fighting back. Most of us are “sheltering at home” now, which will help mitigate the spread of the virus. And Scientists around the world are racing to find ways to fight back against the virus as well.

Newser just shared a story about a Japanese flu drug that has shown positive signs in fighting the coronavirus.

(NEWSER) – “It has a high degree of safety and is clearly effective in treatment.” Those are definitely words one wants to hear regarding a drug that could help coronavirus patients, and they’re the words of an official at China’s science and technology ministry regarding favipiravir, a new Japanese flu drug that China has been using on COVID-19 patients. Those who received the drug, brand name Avigan, in a clinical trial in Shenzhen tested negative for coronavirus a median of four days after testing positive; for those not treated, the figure was 11 days. Plus, those treated with the drug showed improved lung condition via X-ray in 91% of cases. Those not treated had a rate of 62%, the Guardian reports. There were 80 people involved in that trial, and similar results were found in a Wuhan trial involving 240 patients, NHK reports.

It’s early, but this is a bit of positive news that is worth sharing.

Here is the entire story:

Remember, stay at home if possible and keep an eye out for the warning signs of Coronavirus:

It’s also important to point out that 90% or more of all people who get ill recover within two weeks, so if you feel ill, “self-quarantine” and contact your health care provider – and take any medication that helps you get through the bug.

    • I just wanted to share what could be good news, as Scientists around the world are racing to find a cure – or at least medicine that can lower the death rate – because 90+% of those who get the coronavirus now will survive….it’s all about solving this crisis so we can get back to a “new normal” – thanks for reading and commenting!

  3. That’s great news about the drug – staying hopeful we will be out of the worst of this before too long!

    • And 90%+ who have had the virus have recovered, and virtually all who have tragically died had underlying health issues…so much bad news but just trying to share any silver linings that come out

  4. Great post, John. I heard about the flu drug today too. I hope they get it tested fast.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • Robbie, while this is a horrible pandemic, the fact that 90+% recover is already good news, and also the fact that simple soap and water will kill the virus as well…so, as long as we continue to support each other we will make it through

  7. Lots of good ideas there, John if we have to cocoon ourselves and a clear diagram of the symptoms. A good share 🙂
