This “did you know” image led me to one of the world’s most beautiful locations: a “glass beach” in Russia!

A Real “Glass Beach!”
This is why I love social media: there are so many amazing places in the world, and pics like this help me find out all about them.
These pieces of colored glass started out as garbage that washed ashore, and nature has turned them into a thing of beauty…

Ussuri Bay is located in Eastern Russia. According to wikipedia, because of the ocean’s tidal action:
“waves have pounded glass bottles that had washed up to the shore or been dumped there by nearby glass and porcelain factories into rounded glass pebbles. Rather than a danger, the glass on the beach is reported to be safe, according to the Siberian Times.”

I am such a fan of exploring the world, and experiencing natural beauty – or in this case, nature fighting back and turning garbage into glory!

I have shared a number of travel adventures before, like Paul Theroux’s amazing journey by train to the top of the world!

This is in Tibet, known as the “roof of the world”! See more here:

Here in the US, there is a hiking trail in Hawaii known as the “stairway to heaven!”

While officially closed to the public, there are still many adventurists hiking it – see more pics here:

I will never get to “Ussuri Bay”, so these amazing pictures will have to do!

Wow! This is the first time I am hearing about this place and it seems breathtaking! That glass seems surreal! When’s the best time of the year to explore it?

I found this tory online, but based on the location, I’d say it has to be a May-September trip or not at all!

I’m not an adventurous fella but I’d like to do that hike in Hawaii.

Reminds me of Lake Michigan….
Diamond Head hike is fine, but just looking at that Stairway to Heaven made me swoon in my seat. Nice post, John.

That’s a wonder to look at, John. And it’s amazing to realise that nature has turned dangerous broken glass into a thing of beauty.
Best wishes, Pete.
