Welcome To London!
In March, my wife and I spent a few days in London, helping a friend celebrate her birthday….and we did all the things you are supposed to do there, like this:

Yes, the iconic red telephone booths still exist: mostly for photo ops, and there are parts of the London skyline that will never change, like this:
One morning, we headed to London’s Famous Borough Market, near London Bridge – as always it was bustling:

After wandering around looking at all of the cheese stands, meat pies and fish’n’chips we could eat, I noticed a long line by one of the produce stands:

They were all waiting for “chocolate-covered strawberries”, and after they bought them, I saw a lot of this going on:

Apparently, this produce stand is a viral sensation, with people buying these chocolate covered strawberries in a cup just to take pictures of them to post!
I shared that story on my “Bite! Eat! Repeat!” food blog, so if you want the whole delicious story, click here for it:
While we were in town, we got to see the real “Abbey Road” for the first time, the road made famous by The Beatles!

This is the iconic cover for their masterpiece “Abbey Road”, so we replicated it – with Ringo’s help!

Hey, There’s Ringo!
As you can see, Alex is leading the way, followed closely by Ringo himself! WOW!
Ummm…..well, actually NOT Ringo but a great bit of AI-inspired photo manipulation: note that Alex’s right foot is on top of Ringo’s: but it was fun to imagine this sighting!
After that “almost” sighting, we needed a drink!

The Connaught Bar in London was voted one of the ten best in the world, thanks in part to this amazing Martini Cart – and watch when he makes a “sky high Martini” for us:
Of course, we loved it, and it reminded me that my friend Audrey told me about a very unique Martini she had seen:

A “Dirty Deviled Egg Dirty Martini!”
Wait…what? Yes, it’s a Dirty Martini with a “dirty martini deviled egg” perched on top – so I made it!
Yes, it was the most unique Martini I’ve ever attempted and see how I did by clicking on my story here!
We had such a great time in London, but didn’t manage to get to Harrod’s for this:

It’s A $28 Sandwich!
Yep, you read it right – and what a controversy it was – see that story here!

Always love seeing posts and hearing stories about one of my very favourite cities! Connaught was our pub for close to 30 years . . . looks different now . . . I love the old-fashioned memory 🙂 ! Don’t know what is special about chocolate covered strawberries – they seem to have been here forever – some like them, others don’t 🙂 ! All my local friends say the Borough Market has sadly changed . . . haven’t been for the longest time . . . and, no, we never use the term ‘booth’ either 🙂 🙂 🙂 !

I love London! What a great trip! I would love to try the chocolate covered strawberry but not enough to wait in line. And how fun to run into Ringo on Abbey Road! 😉 🙂

It was “AI” Ringo as I pointed out in the story

Don’t worry, I knew it was AI. ☺️

OK everyone, the reason I asked Susanne if she knew it wasn’t real is that Alex got a ton of comments on how cool it was to see Ringo – Susanne had the “wink” emoji which I missed, but I also say: if you want to believe, then believe – doesn’t hurt anyone!

Looks like you had a fun trip, and good that you managed to find a telephone kiosk, or box, as we call them. Anything but booths 🤣

Sorry, that’s what we call them in the US!

They re indeed! The market tried to ban the treat but the booth went to war against them and they dropped that idea…so many people lining up for it – just to get a TikTok with it!

People hanging around for photo ops on that crossing are very frustrating for drivers in the St John’s Wood area of London. When I was driving emergency ambulances in that area, some didn’t even move out of the way when we had the sirens on! Shared on Twitter, John.
Best wishes, Pete.
