The Musical Bowls Of Paris “Tap” Into New York City! It’s Melodic “Clinamen” Time!

Remember These “Floating Musical Bowls Of Paris?”

We were in Paris last summer and found this incredible art exhibit – floating on water!

That’s Alex sitting and listening to this:

Here is what we found in Paris:

Equal parts artist, musician, and composer, Céleste Boursier-Mougenot mixes various media to explore the boundary between art and the everyday. Starting with a wide variety of situations, he develops systems that extend the notion of a musical score by transforming repurposed objects into sophisticated instruments that generate spontaneous, live sounds without human intervention. These unorthodox sonic configurations are realized in environments responding to the architecture and contextual framework of an installation space, creating a bespoke and “alive” listening experience that reveals the process that generates the music to the visitor’s eyes and ears alike.

Here is more:

It’s called “Clinamen” – and Iwill explain in a moment -but the cool news is that is traveled across the pond and is now in New York!

The cool musical exhibit will be at New York’s Armory until mid-August, so get your “bowl tapping groove” on! Just a bit more to give you a feel for the vibe:

By the way, a bit more on the concept:

The title “clinamen” is a term from Epicurean physics that refers to the random movement of atoms. The installation explores this concept by allowing the random, spontaneous collisions of the bowls to create an evolving, natural soundscape.

The “clinamen” art exhibit is just another example of how magical Paris is – but perhaps nothing will ever top this:

While you don’t see the Eiffel Tower show off like this every single night – like it did during the 2024 Olympics, when they do it…WOW!

Oh, and did you know that Paris has canals?

Well, we discovered them while wandering the city last year when Alex was working on the opening night of the 2024 Paris Olympics…here’s the fascinating history of this city’s canals!
