“Beyond” Fried Chicken At KFC!
I’m a huge fan of “Beyond Meats”, the plant-based alternative to burgers and sausages…and now KFC is going to make a “Beyond Meat Meatless Fried Chicken!”
According to CNBC, KFC has teamed up with Beyond Meat to produce a vegan fried chicken alternative for customers.
The new Beyond Meat fried chicken is being tested at a single KFC outlet in Atlanta…
According to Forbes, the “faux-fried” chicken will be available as a six-nugget combo deal with side and drink for $6.49, or $8.49 for a 12-piece combo meal.
That’s a good price for a meatless alternative to KFC’s fried chicken, which is delicious I must say!
I’m a huge fan of Beyond Meat products, offering a healthier way to eat! Here’s how the company describes their “beyond” products:
“The patties pack four main ingredients: water, pea protein isolate, canola oil, and refined coconut oil. These provide the protein, heft, and moisture/juiciness of the burger. Plus, they contain minimal amounts of other ingredients, like potato starch, natural flavor, yeast extract, and beet juice extract.”
Beyond Meat products are delicious and healthy.
And KFC is just the latest mega-food chain to jump on the “Beyond Meat” bandwagon!
Subway has revealed that it has also teamed up with Beyond Meat – testing a new “meatless meatball” sub!
Subway restaurants will serve up a “Beyond Meatball Marinara” sub in 685 restaurants in the United States and Canada starting next month.
And here’s more tasting news:
Last month, Dunkin’ announced that it is testing out a Beyond Meat Sausage Breakfast Sandwich in Manhattan, with plans to expand nationwide soon!
The sandwich is made with an English muffin, egg, American cheese, and the plant-based Beyond Breakfast Sausage.
I have had the Beyond Meat Sausages many times and they are delicious, as are their “beyond meat” hamburger patties…
I’m excited to see more restaurants jump on the “meat alternative” bandwagon – this is certainly different than the new KFC announced a few months ago:
KFC’s “Cheetos Fried Chicken” Sandwich!
I still haven’t had the chance to try this one, but reviews have said it’s tasty! See how they making this “cheetos/Fried Chicken” mashup by clicking here:

Love these Beyond Meat ideas – I’m currently trying to lessen my intake of processed meats so hope they come over to our shores! I don’t know if you’ve heard of Greggs but the Greggs sausage roll is essentially a staple of the British diet… They’ve recently brought out a vegan version and I swear it’s actually better than the real thing, and soooo much healthier (I believe it contains some sort of Quorn filling inside).

I love Quorn products because they used mushroom and NOT tofu as their vegan base…the Beyond Meat products use Peas and beet juice in a way that tastes great without the “tofu” bloat!

I must admit I don’t really eat tofu so I haven’t experienced that, but so much food makes me bloated that I think I’ll try and avoid it! I actually tried a vegan burger from Aldi made from beetroot the other day – it was nice and I loved the “bleeding”, but I think the beet flavour was a little too overpowering. I’m massively into chickpea and cauliflower alternatives right now – can’t get enough of them.

I make Cauliflower Rice for my wife, adding peas and carrots, as well as garlic, onion and parsley…she loves it – but I still make rice for myself!

Like some of the comments here I am not a fan of tofu and soy taste/texture..the pea protein alternative sounds interesting…:)

Carol, it is, and they also have a bit of beet juice which makes it “bleed” like a burger!

I think there are more vegetarians and vegans in the “younger” generation. Most of the restaurants in Portland, Oregon are vegetarian friendly.

Yes, it’s getting more popular all the time…I just like that these don’t depend almost solely on tofu like many restaurants do

Yes, I’m semi-vegetarian because the veggies agree with my system. I learn to get protein from different food.

Wow! I would totally be up for trying this! I’ve enjoyed the fake burgers, but not tried chicken yet…
Thanks for sharing John!

I think the KFC spices would really make this pop – worth trying for sure – thanks for commenting!

I have yet to be convinced by most ‘meat-free’ products I have tried. The texture is usually all wrong, and I worry about the additives that give it the ‘meat flavour’. But I am always willing to try something better. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, “Beyond Meat” is a bit different – no tofu or soy takes away that texture and taste – worth trying if you get the chance, the best offering so far are their sausages, which not only cook like real one but taste that way as well!

Non-meat products seem to be becoming more and more popular, John. I have noticed in Scotland that all of the restaurants, even fish and chippies, offer a meat free/vegan alternative.

Robbie, what makes this product special is that it’s NOT just a tofu/soy substitute…this uses pea protein instead and it gives it a juiciness and texture much more appealing!

This company is sky rocketing! I love that their fame has them expanding their line and where their products are sold. Here in Canada, several restaurants have their burger on their menus, and so far only one grocery chain is selling them too. 🙂

Yes, it’s a nice “non-meat” alternative, and I like that it’s not just tofu-based, which I’m not a fan of! Thanks for commenting as always!

It’s good to see more non-meat options for vegans/vegetarians. I’m a meat eater but I do quite like Quorn chicken so I’d be interested in seeing what some meatless meat tastes like at KFC! Will it be as fingerlicking good?

I LOVE the Quorn chicken as well…I also eat meat, but like the option and I have to assume they will keep that secret blend of herbs and spices intact, right? Thanks for commenting!

The beyond meat products are delicious, and if they allow us a non-meat alternative that isn’t loaded with soy and tofu, count me in! Thanks for commenting, and yes, a Cheetos sandwich!

Yes agreed! That’s the hard part with the fake meat… too much soy! Best- USG
