Drink Yourself To Sleep Indeed!
It’s a wine-filled “What The Friday”, thanks to a wine barrel you can sleep in!
This is just another reason why I love the internet, because it shares places like this – an incredible Portugese Winery that lets you sleep inside a wine barrel!
Yes, this incredible winery in Portugal not only has a hotel and restaurant, they have real, supersized wine barrels to sleep in as well!
Quinta da Pacheca is a beautiful 280-year-old wine estate which has created 30 “Wine barrel” suites which include a circular double bed, private wardrobe and bathroom with walk-in shower.
Each wine barrel room has skylight windows and a private terrace , along with air conditioning and Wi-Fi as well!
These incredible photos of Quinta da Pacheca are credited to their website, which you can see here:

Quinta da Pacheca is based in Douro, Portugal – ‘one of the most famous wine regions in the world’ and you can stay here for roughly $200-$250 per night, breakfast included.
The winery promises “an idyllic and romantic setting” with the wine barrels “providing a unique experience of contact with nature and the monumental reality of the Douro Wine Region”.
They add: “Unique moments of rest await for you in an environment of rurality.”
Sounds good to me – cheers!
I saw this incredible “Wine Barrel Hotel” posted online, and located the entire article here – more info and pictures, so click on it:
As unique as this gorgeous Portugese winery is, remember that I showed you how we do things in the US:

And I know that Portugal is very affordable so it’s not a budget buster at all! Thanks for commenting!

I might put it on my bucket list. I’ve spent lots of time in Spain, but never been to Portugal.

This looks amaaaazing! What a good way to re-use the barrels. I wonder if they still have a vino smell!?

I think they are built special for this, but I would imagine they’d want to “enhance” the aroma so you feel like you are really inside one!

I have never slept inside a wine barrel, but I am certainly ready to try!
I have probably drunk enough wine to fill that in my lifetime though. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Me as well Pete! I have never been to Portugal but I hear it’s incredibly reasonable in terms of cost, and this room isn’t that expensive at all – less than sleeping inside the potato in the US!
