You are looking at one of America’s best burgers….and today I discovered that the restaurant’s design pays homage to a wacky 1963 comedy!

The “In-N-Out” restaurant chain in the western United States has a red palm tree on their packaging and drinks, and it is due to this scene from the 1963 comedy “It’s A Mad, Mad., Mad, Mad World!”

I shared the story of this homage over at my food blog…if you want to know more, here is the link!
Some of you know that I have a “dinner and a movie” series, where I watch a film and make a dish from the movie…while there is no In-N-Out burger in that film, I didd make this burger from a classic gem:

That’s the “Big Kahuna” burger, featured in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 classic “Pulp Fiction” – want to make one yourself?
The recipe is right here, plus a look at the film s well!
And if you have a sweet tooth, how about some of this pie – another “dinner and a movie” post?

It’s just one of the wild recipes from the great film “Waitress!”

That was a great movie! Gimme the burgers, and I’ll pass on the marshmallow pie.

I would love to try the burger, but that much marshmallow on a pie would be too sweet for me.
Best wishes, Pete.

Writing from Australia am roaring with laughter naturally! Pineapple is a very ‘iffy’ component of burgers in Australia! Sometimes included, especially in ‘tourist joints’ in Queensland but generally regarded as extraneous! BUT – you have not included beetroot, fried onion rings and fried egg! What kind of a burger is that, especially without beetroot 🙂 🙂 🙂 !!!

I’m not really a pineapple fan – so sweet – but he Kahuna Burger called for it and by grilling it some of the sweetness was mitigated…thanks for reading in Australia!

The things you learn In N Out Burger and It’s a Mad, Mad World. I never knew. Of course, I have to be the only person in the US to never try In N Out. Gotta make a trip out west this summer.
