Who’s Got #wanderlust?
Well, looking at this photo, I certainly do! This is the northeast part of Spain, known as “Basque Country”:

I’ve only been to Spain once, and it was the south east corner for me…more on that in a moment, but first, back to Basque:
“Basque Country is an autonomous community in northern Spain with strong cultural traditions, a celebrated cuisine and a distinct language that pre-dates the Romance languages. The vibrant riverside city of Bilbao is a hub of architecture and design, where gritty factories and shipyards give way to cutting-edge landmarks such as the titanium-clad Guggenheim Museum along a revitalized waterfront.”
Thanks to wikipedia for that description…as for the food, I am taking part in a cookbook club that is reviewing recipes from a Basque Chef’s cookbook – here is a link to Robbie’s effort, plus more info on how to see all of the recipes:
I am now sharing most of my food stories on my food blog – but I will also share here when they involve travel, like this big boy:

Did you know there’s a giant pineapple waiting for you? Well, there is an attempt to bring it back and I for one cannot wait!
See that story here:
Remember this other large food item I wrote about?

This Cheetos statue is real, and click here to see where you can find it!
I love these pop culture monuments…like this “singing ringing tree!”

It’s not only art, it makes music too!
Click here for a video of it making music!
As for Spain, my wife and I explored the incredible “coastal brava” region outside of Barcelona:

We had so much fun, including a few magical days in Barcelona where we climbed this:

At the time it was still under its 150+ year “renovation”, but now it’s done!

Like you, I’ve been to Spain once (Barcelona and then off the coast.) The olive oils and various foods were the best. Felt like I ate like a king!!

I haven’t visited the Basque country, but I do love the area around Barcelona, and would happily return one day.
Best wishes, Pete.
