Well, what a surprise this was! My wife Alex and I were in Paris on July 11, walking past The Louvre museum, when we saw this wildly colorful display above us – followed moments later by these jets!
We watched this and tried to figure out why it was happening – because Bastille Day was approaching?
Alex focused on the air above the massive Ferris Wheel in the Tuileries, while I tried to spot them farther away over the famous Champs-Elysee – because they appeared without warning above us!
Take a look at the video we captured of the display! Oh and before you click it:
Note that about a minute in, two small planes approach and one flips over above the giant ferris wheel in the Tuileries!
Well, that was unexpected! We heard many people say it was indeed a preview of Bastille Day celebrations to come, and it was just one of the wild things we saw on this trip to Paris!
Yes, this giant statue of the visionary Japanese Artist Yayoi Kusama was wild indeed – click here for more pictures and video as well!
Paris is one of our favorite cities – and since my wife Alex is an acknowledged “lover of potatoes”, we spent one day tasting a wide variety of potatoes from a wide variety of restaurants in Paris!

Those displays are fantastic, aren’t they. We have the RAF’s Red Arrows here, and I’ve seen them countless times down the years. Always an impressive sight.
Hi John, I saw some of these pictures on FB. What a great experience.

I love those displays. Looks similar to the Red Arrows displays, but I guess it’s not them?

Not sure what that is, but if its like the Blue Angels in the US, probably so!

I think yes, they’re similar to the Blue Angels.

What a treat! Different types of planes and jets must have made it even more special. Thanks so much, John.

Yup, I guess it was a bit of a shock if you weren’t expecting them 🤣

We have similar fly-pasts on big occasions, like the recent Coronation. You were lucky to be ‘on the spot’, John.
Best wishes, Pete.

The air show was fabulous. How hot was Paris? I was there last year at the same time and it was over 100 degrees.

We were also there last year when it hit 100 – this year it was high 80’s so not bad at all really! Thanks for commenting!
