Welcome To Lisbon Portugal!

This is a shot of Alex and I overlooking the terrific city of Lisbon, Portugal…where we spent 6 days at the end of 2022…that’s the Tagus River behind us – and do you see that land on the other side of the water?

That’s where we are headed for a wild wild lunch!

To get across the river, we headed over Lisbon’s “golden gate” bridge, called the “25 de Abril” bridge…and just on the other side is the famous “Christ The King” statue overlooking the river:

We got dropped off on a hillside street and walked down to the river, where a nice path took us to our destination:

That’s the restaurant – where that tiny pier juts out with yellow tables…here’s an idea of where it’s located when we got these shots looking at it from the other side:

We discovered the restaurant Ponto Final thanks to the great Netflix show “Somebody Feed Phil”, and Host Phil Rosenthal loved to show how you can eat literally perched over the river!

As you can see, a small pier juts out over the river and tables are perched right over the water – with no railings to keep you from falling in!

We were right at the edge of the pier, with central Lisbon directly across the river from us and the bridge over our shoulder…

OK OK…enough about the cool location and unique seating…let’s talk food!

Don’t worry, Ponto Final delivers on that score as well..first, some Portugese wine:

Next, we ordered what Phil suggested – and for a delicious reason:

Grilled Sardines!

These meaty, grilled Sardines are served with roasted potatoes and bread – and Phil showed us to put a sardine on a slice of bread, drizzle some olive oil over it, then pick away!

These were delicious! Meaty, smoky and flavorful – what a way to start our feast!

In fact, I can show you what they looked like when we finished as I shot this video with another look at the seating because why not?

Yes, it was my birthday, so we next ordered one of my favorite dishes of all time: Monkfish Stew Portugese style!

Here’s how it is delivered to the table:

I discovered Lisbon’s fondness for the incredible “tomato rice”, which is served with a delicious broth – here’s a look:

This was an absolutely delicious lunch – and with the wine, we were primed to walk a mile or so to the ferry, where we would take a boat back across the river to Lisbon!

We got one last shot and then walked east along the river toward the ferry terminal…and discovered a whole world of color!

A number of the abandoned buildings along the river have been converted into artist colonies, with graffiti the artistic expression of choice:

Yes, that is my finger at the bottom…I did a very wide shot and got myself in the picture!

After a short walk, we got the ferry and headed back to central Lisbon!

Just 15 minutes onboard and we were back!

We had such a magical time in Portugal – I shared another spectacular meal we had in Lisbon as well:

The “Scarlett Shrimp” dish at Cervejaria Ramiro is so incredibly memorable, especially the serving of the dish!

This restaurant only serves shellfish – well, except for the steak sandwich – for dessert!

Alex and I also had a terrific meal on the Greek island of Santorini – after a 1,000+ step walk down a steep hill to get there!

What a walk but it was worth it!
