Would You Sleep Inside This Capsule?
Everyone knows I am fascinated with “all things Tokyo” and that includes this unique “Capsule Hotel”, where you can rent a small bed like this.
Of course, RocketNews24.com had the terrific story!
As they report:
“There are so many capsule hotels to choose from in Japan, but if you want to stay at one that tells you how many times you snore during the night, you’ll want to book yourself into 9 Hours Woman Shinjuku.”

Yes, It’s A Snore” Hotel!
This fascinating “Capsule Hotel” has dozens of beds, and clean communal bathrooms as well. This specific hotel is just for women, and the “RocketNews24” story shows you what the bathroom and other accommodations look like if you stayed there. Could you sleep inside this?
A “Snore Meter!”
The most fascinating part of this specific capsule hotel is this….SoraNews reports that they cool technology monitors your sleep – including how much you snore!
As they report on “Ikuna”, a guest who stayed there:
“The “9h sleep fitscan“, as it’s called, is a service that uses sensors built into the capsule unit to measure the sleep quality and respiratory status of guests with their consent. Ikuna had given her consent to the analysis by filling in details like age, height, and weight at check-in.“
the next morning, she received a report on her sleep habits, including snoring!
“According to the sleep report, she’d snored an average of nine times an hour, and at a volume of up to 57 decibels. “

Apparently, 57 decibels is said to be “a little quieter than being inside a moving car“, which was some consolation but still! Nine times an hour is around once every seven minutes, a pretty high frequency as far as Ikuna is concerned.
Bravo as always to Soranews24.com – see their entire story here – including a look at the cool bathrooms in the hotel!
So, would you stay over night in one?
Or, would you live a “capsule life” like this?

Wow! I would get claustrophobic.

I think they are too small for comfort, also very close to the other sleepers. They remind me a bit of being inside a CT Scanner!.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes Pete, that’s exactly right…I know they are popular there but I’d never get used to it!

Not the first one, but the capsule looks tempting. I’m a terribly fussy sleeper, but my wife can sleep anywhere.

I know they are very popular but they are just too narrow and low for me as well! Thanks for reading and commenting, always great to hear from you!

They are popular but it’s like a very clean, tiny hostel!

Hi John, I think I could sleep in one of these. I can pretty much sleep anywhere, anytime, anyhow, plane, train or automobile. It drives Terence crazy as he often can’t sleep.
