Kelly Covers ABBA!
Thursday’s all new Kelly Clarkson Show opened with a stunning, slow version of ABBA’s iconic hit song “Dancing Queen!
Kelly gave the song an amazing spin of her own, slowing it down and letting the gorgeous melody linger….it was just her latest #Kellyoke performance – the Talk Show Host opens every episode with a cover version of a great song.
Enjoy!
On every single episode, Kelly and her band open the show by covering a song – so you want to make sure to tune in every weekday to see them!

If this just whets your appetite for ABBA, I’ve got you covered:
That’s right, last year the group re-formed and released new music!

Of course, ABBA’s music was used for the small hit film “Mamma Mia”, which also became a huge Broadway musical…but here’s a film that did it first:
This 1992 comedy/drama helped make Toni Collette a star – directed by Bay Luhrmann, who went on to make “Moulin Rouge!”
The movie is filled with ABBA songs, as a young woman who dreams of getting married lives her life by their music!

Hey, John. It’s interesting to read all the comments and responses to Kelly’s version. If I’d heard it on it’s own, I probably would’ve loved it but the real ABBA version is just electricity to the soul. I’m Australian and three years older than Toni Colette. I related a bit to the character of Muriel and not being that it girl. It really was a bit movie for me, and there were some really dark aspects to it as you mentioned. Some real home truths. Have you seen another Australian film: The Castle? It came out a few years later and has a similar vibe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Castle_(1997_Australian_film)
My daughter wants to become a ballerina and she’ll be 17 next year. She’s my Dancing Queen. BTW as a child I was known as Nina and I still remember the kids taunting me: “Nina,Nina pretty ballerina”. It just confirmed it’s not what you say, but how you say it.
Best wishes,
Rowena

Kelly is also very careful about her #kellyokes respecting the original versions, or trying to give them a new take – she is a huge music fan and does these as an homage to the artists, so she would agree the original has an energy and enthusiasm that cannot be topped! I will look for “The Castle!”

She stripped it back to make it into a sad ballad. Well done to her.
