“Mamma Mia!”
There’s no other way to say it except with ABBA’s most famous song – the band is back!
It began with this cryptic notice across social media – and then the news was delivered to fans of all ages around the world:
It’s news that all ABBA fans have dreamed of – here’s how BBC News reported it:
Pop legends Abba have surprised and delighted fans by announcing their first studio album for 40 years.
Abba Voyage will be released in November, before a “revolutionary” set of concerts where virtual avatars will play hits like Mamma Mia and Waterloo.
The quartet, who split up in 1982, said they ended up back in the recording studio while working on the stage show.
“At first it was just two songs, and then we said, ‘Well, maybe we should do a few others,'” said Benny Andersson.
In the end, they recorded 10 tracks – two of which were premiered during a globally-streamed press conference on Thursday.
Here is the trailer for the music and tour:
As reported, they also release two songs to get fans in the mood.
Here is the video for “I Still Have Faith In You”:
They sound like you want ABBA to sound, so if you are a fan, you are in a bit of music heaven right now!
And here is the second new song, “Don’t Shut Me down”:
I give them a lot of credit for coming back now…this is right up there with how the music world would have reacted to a Beatles reunion…
Of course, that’s not possible, but “Lord Of The Rings” Director Peter Jackson did the next best thing: he spent more than a year with the original film that was shot for this 1970 documentary:
Fans know that the documentary shows them band fraying at the seams…so Jackson has given us a new vision of those recording sessions, and it is revelatory…a two part, 4+ hour event will premiere on Disney+ Thanksgiving weekend – here’s the incredible sneak peek:
I can’t wait for this new Beatles documentary, and I’m happy to hear what a new ABBA sounds like too!

There is a lot about Abbas comeback in the newspapers here in Sweden. I grew up listening to them, my mom was a big fan.

I was quite excited to see this when I read they were making a comeback with a new album, but I’ll be honest, I was sceptical and a bit unsure whether it would live up to the hype. I’ll have to show my mum your post and the video as she loves ABBA! xx

I do love ABBA, John, and I like these two new songs. I wonder how the youngsters will receive them or if it will only be the older generations that like it.

Robbie, this sound NOTHING like modern music today, so I assume it will be for the “nostalgia” crowd only!

I am afraid that a bunch of aged pensioners reforming just to hype their travelling “show” doesn’t do it for me but I know some folk are overjoyed! Horses for courses! 😉

I think they speak to a happier time which resonates now for many

Haha, quite possibly. To me, they were always rather saccharine. I liked my music with a bit more “umph” 😉
