Ready For The Holiday?
Well, let’s get you in the mood, with the greatest holiday song of all time: “Christmas Is All Around Me” by Billy Mack from the 2003 holiday film “Love Actually”…it’s actually Actor Bill Nighy doing the honors, but it always puts a smile on my face:
Thanks Billy…everyone in the holiday spirit?
Good!
Let’s begin this “Six Shot Saturday” with a half dozen images from the holidays…let’s go!
This is our small tree in our back room: while smaller in size, it holds some of my favorite holiday ornaments, like bacon!
This tree is filled with all sorts of unique ornaments, from bacon to sushi and yes, even cheeseburgers!
I continue to get food-based ornaments and I love it!
I also enjoy coming across holiday decoarations, like this magnificent one in Beverly Hills California:
Yes, that’s me at the top of the shot peering down at a really cool Beverly Hills sign – just another chance to celebrate the season!
I love seeing people getting into the spirit of the holiday, no matter what and how you celebrate…it brings cities and towns to life everywhere you turn:
Welcome To The LA Zoo!
I didn’t take this picture, but love the incredible display at the Zoo every years – and I found this display from Boston very impressive as well:
There is something about these lights and exhibits that is soothing…and one year I want to let nature light up my night:
I have never seen the northern lights, but what a spectacular image!
Looking at these scenes, it’s important to remember the reason we celebrate the season – a spiritual time of year…time to reflect and maybe be a bit nicer to all around us…
OK, enough of that – time to head back inside the house, where my main tree shines brightly. Of course, I took a selfie with it…that’s me at the top.
As you can see, I get carried away and love to play with my ornaments, so I found myself doing this:
Finally, my last image is actually an advertisement – from some of the biggest celebrities of their time – hawking holiday smokes!
Yes, Bob Hope and Bing Crosby were just a few of the celebrities who put their faces on holiday ads of all kinds:
Sammy Davis Jr!
I love just how retro these ads are – you can click here to see more of my favorites, including Humphrey Bogart selling chocolates:
If you like these stories, why not sign up to receive emails whenever I post? It’s easy to do, I do NOT collect any information about you at all, there are absolutely NO ads of any kind, just stories about movies, music, food, travel and pop culture…
You can sign up by clicking on my blog here and see the note on the right!
Happy holidays – leave a comment with your favorite holiday images, like my food ornaments!

You had me at Love, Actually. And with that song that is now firmly embedded in my head. Remember that quote from Billy in the movie? “I left Elton John’s, where there were a hefty number of half-naked chicks with their mouths open, to hang out with you, at Christmas. It’s a terrible mistake, Chubs, but you turn out to be the fucking love of my life. And to be honest, despite all my complaining, we have had a wonderful life.” Merriments all around this holiday season! ☃️

I’m a bit of a Grinch when it comes to decorating, but that sushi ornament – brilliant!

Thanks! My friends thought it was a nice “next step” from bacon and burgers, which I have a half dozen of now!

Robbie sent me over here, and I’m glad she did. I love a Christmas tree (and a blogger) with a sense of humor. But I also like the sentiments you express here. I agree, Christmas tends to slow us down a bit to savor the beauty of the season, and the reason for the season. May we be filled with kindness – to ourselves and to others.
Oh and we’re on our way to Boston to see the Nutcracker with the Boston Ballet, and we walk right by the gazebo you show above in the Boston Public Garden. 🙂 Merry, Merry.

Your food tree is perfect. There’s no chance I’d be in Hollywood, so I appreciate your pics of the area. The zoo shot is my favorite. That would be fun to walk through. 🙂 Thanks for spreading some cheer!
