Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr Get In Tune For The Holidays!
My “Songs For Sunday” are all holiday themed today, from Kelly Clarkson to The Eagles, Daryl Hall and John Oates, David Bowie and yes, Macca and Ringo!
Ringo’s Candid Impression Of Paul’s Famous Christmas Song!
Let’s begin with some shocking news for Beatles fans – Ringo blasts Paul’s miserable holiday song! NOT.
OK, a Ringo IMPERSONATOR does the blasting – someone shared a funny parody starring British Comedian Peter Serafinowicz – who made this video for his UK TV show…
Ringo Remembers Christmas!
That’s the title of the parody video, which has Ringo remembering Paul’s disastrous first effort at a holiday song…take a look:
Bravo to Serafinowicz for capturing both Paul and Ringo is such a funny and affectionate way – using “Wonderful Christmastime” as a way into his Beatles impressions.
You can find clips of his shows online, and episodes pop up on US TV as well – of course, he can have fun with Paul’s holiday effort, but it’s Macca who is laughing all the way to the bank:
Yes, “Wonderful Christmastime” is one of Paul’s most lucrative recording efforts – click here to see the video and find out why the song is so popular:
Another classic rock band did a cover of “Please Come Home For Christmas” and it’s a favorite of mine:
The Eagles recorded this in the late 70’s, and it’s timeless – click here to see the song, and the flip side “Funky New Year”:
A modern holiday classic is “Wrapped In Red” – Kelly Clarkson’s terrific collection of Christmas music, which includes her soulful take on “Please Come Home For Christmas” as well:
You can see the videos for the title track as well as “Underneath The Tree” by clicking on my story here:
Daryl Hall and John Oates have given us massive hits in their career, and their holiday album showcases their singing at its finest:
It’s a terrific mix of standards and new material…see them here:
Finally, one of the greatest holiday duets of all time was also the most unusual:
Iconic Artist David Bowie teamed up with the legendary Bing Crosby for the incredible “Peace On Earth / Little Drummer Boy” – click here for the story of how it happened!

Each year my family listens to the Christmas album by Pentatonix. We love their harmonies.
