Time To Bite Down On Bottle Rock!
Need a Crab Roll to get you in the mood for some great music? Done!
I’ve posted about the music of the 2019 Bottle Rock festival, held each year in Napa Valley, America’s “wine country.”
It’s 3 days of great music, food AND wine, so while you have five different stages to find just the right music for your taste, you also have dozens of food stands that are ready to do the same – and in my case, that meant only ONE THING:
Bacon Caramel Corn! Smoked Bacon BLT Too!
Yes, I found the place of my dreams: a terrific food stand serving bacon in a lot of fun ways – like Caramel Corn, but check out this smoked bacon BLT as well!
Oh, did I mention they had incredible Bacon Mac’n’Cheese as well?
All of the valley’s restaurant came out with their best food, and I wanted to share some pictures of how I ate my way through this festival – hope this makes you hungry!

Masaharu Morimoto sets a Guinness World Record at the Williams Sonoma Culinary Stage for slicing 100 pieces of 3.5 ounces of tuna from a 205 pound fish in 12 minutes and 49 seconds. (Chris Riley–Times-Herald)
As the San Francisco Chronicle reported, famed ‘Iron Chef’ Masaharu Morimoto sliced a 200-pound tuna into 100 pieces — each weighing 3.5 ounces — in under 25 minutes – and landed in the Guiness Book of World Records!
Culinary record achieved, he then served it up in delicious hand rolls!
Another restaurant served up a unique sushi roll – this one made with Wagyu Beef! Yes, it was delicious, but hey, EVERYTHING WAS – every restaurant showed up to have fun and serve great food – and my wife posted a few of them on Instagram:
Our great friend Yvette was with us, and we LOVED the tacos from La Calenda, Chef Thomas Keller’s new Mexican restaurant in Yountville. Bravo to Chef Ross Melling for the creation of the incredible menu there…
Our close friends Karen and Bruce were also there, and Bruce helped Alex bring more food back to taste – the sizes were not large, and by sharing, we all got to try a bite of something unique, like these shredded smoked port Nachos!
And I loved this Karaage Fried Chicken: boneless chunks battered with tempura and flash fried – incredible…but in a post of great food, one stood tall:
Kobe Beef Corn Dogs!
I LOVE CORN DOGS, AND I LOVE KOBE BEEF.
There, said it. And these Hot Dogs were incredible! In fact, all of the food was great, and I hope these pics helped make you hungry – and thirsty too!
So you can see, great food and wine – oh, and lots of incredible music as well!
The festival got off to a raucous start with Imagine Dragons – here is their opener, the great hit song “Believer”:
Also performing this weekend: Neil Young, Pharrell Williams, Santa, Mumford and Sons and more. One of the most unique performances came from one of entertainment’s most unique talents:
Yes, Actor Jeff Goldblum brought The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra to the festival and had a rollicking good time!
Here is Goldblum and his band performing:
I also love that you get to know new bands at Bottle Rock, like this one:
I became an instant fan of “LovelyTheBand” and you can too by clicking to see their live performance of the infectious “Stupid Mistakes” here:
Let me know what food looks good to you!

So says the person who is sharing pics from Hawaii! I think we are both doing the same thing: celebrating important moments in life before we go back to our “day jobs!” Thanks for commenting!

Thanks for the comment! The Kobe Hot Dog was incredible, but I will also say that the Paella was absolutely delicious, and kudos for their ability to make it so well at a remote site like this! A tent!

That does look like great food, John. I had a Kobe Beef burger before I left London, and it was delicious. You can really tell the difference.
Best wishes, Pete.

Well, the key is to share one plate with 3 people – you get to try more because each one is just a bite or two!
