Heinz Doubles Down On A New Condiment Mashup!
Soon, you will be able to ask your friends: “would you like some mayochup on that?”
Wait – WHAT!?!?!?!
You are looking at a new mix of two popular condiments, which may be forming a more perfect union – with a distinctly unique name!
Newser has the story – a new “ketchup / mayonnaise” condiment from Heinz that they are asking you to vote on….tentatively titled “Mayochup” –
YES, MAYOCHUP.

As Newser reports:
“Americans are just 120,000 votes away from getting their hands on “Mayochup.” Ahead of the summer grilling season, Heinz took to Twitter on Wednesday to tease a US release of its bottled mayonnaise-ketchup combination, already sold in some Middle East countries. “Want #mayochup in stores? 500,000 votes for ‘yes’ and we’ll release it to you saucy Americans,” the company said, launching a poll that ends Sunday. There’s a very good chance “Mayochup” will indeed end up in stores, with 380,000 “yes” votes as of this writing. But with 45% of the vote, the “no” camp is also making itself heard. Some worry about “another bottle clogging up the refrigerator.” Others complain Heinz is ripping off “Fry Sauce,” already widely sold.”

Nicole Kulwicki is the Director of Marketing for Heinz, and she told USAToday that the company:
“will be giving the nation a say in our final name. We know our friends in Idaho and Utah are passionate about Fry Sauce, and we’ve seen lots of other great suggestions online,” she adds.

And If NOT “Mayochup”…
Heinz says that, if “mayochup” isn’t the final name for the sauce, it might be “ketchonaise”.
Yes, KETCHONAISE.

Don’t get me wrong, I am all for exotic sauces…

Remember when the Japanese hamburger chain Lotteria offered a burger topped with a “strawberry cream” sauce? I’d try that! You can see more of Lotteria’s wacky burger ideas, like a chocolate-covered burger, by clicking here:

Let me know what you think of this “Mayochup” / “Ketchonaise” idea!

I never use mayonnaise, I don’t like the taste. I am the ONLY person I know who doesn’t like it, and will send back any sandwich or food where they have added it without asking. I also rarely eat tomato ketchup, so won’t be a customer for this new melange, that’s for sure! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, understand about the ketchup, but I grew up in Seattle, where rich and chips were ALWAYS served with tartar sauce – so mayo-based condiments are in my blood!

In Belgium, they serve French fries covered in mayo. You have to be quick, to stop them adding it. 🙂

Pete, in my post about visiting Amsterdam, I include a photo of my mayo-covered frites – they were heavenly!!!

This would be interesting, I am not a fan of Ketchup, but love a good quality mayonnaise, but can see that my grandkids would love this combo.

I say that mayo is a perfect partner for any other flavor!

This is actually quite interesting, as I have been using a combo of mayo and ketchup (although I am not a big fan of kethup) for more than 40 years with seafood appetizers.

Hmm. Call me a rebel but I’d vote for Ketchonaise.🤔

Agree that it’s much better than “mayochup”

Well I like ketchup & mayonnaise, but I’m not so sure about them together. I would try it though!

There is Sriracha Mayo now as well as Wasabi Mayo, so this is actually pretty tame – interesting that it’s an actual controversy online! Thanks for the comment!
