What’s Flying Across Southern California? An Early Santa Sighting?
Southern California was buzzing tonight about this amazing scene high in the sky – I grabbed my camera and got this video of it:
It was the last Space X rocket launch – not sure if they warned anyone, but it sure caught us off guard!
As the Los Angeles Times reports:
“What was that in the skies above L.A. on Friday night that stopped traffic and sparked both alarm and curiosity?
It was a rocket.
SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 5:27 p.m., was carrying 10 satellites to low-Earth orbit. The satellites will be part of a constellation operated by Iridium Communications. All 10 satellites successfully deployed, with the last one deploying about 1 hour and 12 minutes after liftoff.
The rocket’s first stage was previously used during a mission in June.”
Let me know if you saw it!

Looks very impressive, John. You did well to capture it too.
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, we were literally just getting out of the ar, i look up and see a large white line in the sky, like a pencil, looks like a military plane – then it bursts open like a giant fish! (some say sperm) Anyway, I instinctively grabbed my phone to capture it – now we all know what it was but for a few minutes…oh, and there is a military base close enough so that these types of things happen, but not to such a large degree – or at rush hour!

That would be freaky to see! Thanks for sharing your video, John.

Cindy, they supposedly don’t do these tests or launches until later at night or early morning – not sure why they chose to do this one during rush hour, but they sure got a lot of news coverage!

I bet! I’m surprised it didn’t cause a panic….

I actually thought the Almighty was finally intervening and sending down an emissary on the behalf of all sane Americans, and delivering us from evil.

It was unannounced and during rush hour – seems a bit reckless on their part!

Extremely. But typical of boffins in my experience. I should know I’m married to one 😉

Wow, so cool! At least once you know what it is! Otherwise you must have been thinking UFO??, which is of course, what it is until it’s identified. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Yes, it IS a UFO until otherwise ID’d! I just saw it start and instinctively grabbed my phone!

I was driving along in Yucca Valley.. hi desert.. and saw this ahead of me in my car and thought the aliens had arrived! Then I thanked Trump for having tighter controls to guard against illegal aliens. Now I can sleep well tonight.

HA! Well, I wonder if they announced this ahead of time, because it came out of nowhere and filled the sky for a brief moment – we assumed we weren’t being invaded – and to that end, how can you build a wall around outer space!

Might be easier to install a planet-hiding cloaking device, that way illegal aliens couldn’t see where to go. Hmmm… maybe a cloaking device instead of a wall down there. That way when they peer longingly over the border they see no where to go.
