Time to sing some classic holiday songs – and who better to do so than these guys!
All Hail Hall & Oates!
Yes, they are one of America’s musical treasures, and this holiday season it’s time to celebrate their classic Christmas album!
“Home For Christmas”
“Home For Christmas” is Daryl Hall & John Oates’ first full length album of Christmas music. It was released in 2006, and it a beautiful collection of new and timeless Christmas music…
The CD features two new songs written by Hall & Oates: “No Child Should Ever Cry on Christmas” and “Home for Christmas.”
Here are Hall & Oates performing a gorgeous version of “The Christmas Song” on “Live From Daryl’s House”:
The CD also includes a version of “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear”, which became their second number one Adult Contemporary hit. Here is the live version of “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear”:
“Jingle Bell Rock!”
Yes, Hall & Oates have had an amazing career, and even had a huge Christmas hit in the 80’s with this fun take on a classic holiday jingle…check out the hilariously retro music video for “Jingle Bell Rock” here:
If you don’t have the Hall & Oates Christmas album, grab it now – it’s terrific holiday music!
And speaking of classic holiday music, we must never forget this classic from Macy Grey…
Macy Grey??!?!?!?!?
Yes! Alex and I have enjoyed Macy’s classic holiday song for years! Her brilliant song “I Try” CLEARLY ends with a holiday greeting – and we can prove it! Just watch the music video and at precisely 3:11 into the song, you can clearly hear her shouting out “Santa Claus!”
Let me know if you also shout out “Santa Claus” along with Macy Grey on her legendary song…and if you are now in the holiday mood, then time to plug in your Christmas lights and get lit up yourself!

I really enjoyed that selection …. I’d never heard Hall and Oates performing those songs so it was a real treat. The Macy Gray song is one of my all time favourites and yes, she does appear to be shouting Santa Claus at 3:11. As a point of interest the town featured in the slide show is Annecy which is a short drive from my home. If you have never visited it, you really should next time the two of you find yourselves in France. Pretty doesn’t cover it 😊
I usually listen to Holiday Jazz to relax me and get in the spirit of the season. But I do love Hall and Oates–love that t-shirt! Merry Christmas, John. 🙂

Wow! Thanks for sharing that! And yes, Macy Gray might not say it, but it sure sounds like it!

Holiday jazz sounds great – but this H&O album is terrific as well – very mellow and respectful of the songs! Happy holidays!
