“Wild Dogs On The Run!”
One of the most unexpected parts of our incredible African Safari is when you find yourself chasing down wild animals, like this pack of wild dogs!
They are so rare that when you hear they are moving, the chase is on!
Here’s a bit of our “very bouncy” chase!
That’s What They Call A “Safari Massage!”
Yes, we experienced many “safari massages”, which is what they call a high speed trek over the rough desert landscape! You hold on tight and bounce a lot!
Here are a few of our memorable encounters with animals who were on the move!

See this majestic Lion? We encountered many of them on our 19 day safari adventure, and usually they were lounging in the sun and enjoying their post-meal relaxation time.
So, we were a bit unsettled when on wild Lion in the Kalahari Desert started a fairly fast-paced run right toward us – check it out:
It WAS unnerving for a moment, but our terrific Guide was paying close attention and told us afterwards that he could tell the Lion wasn’t coming for us.
It turns out he was just eager to get back to a Kudu that he had killed earlier – here’s where we found him moments later, ignoring us completely as he finished his meal:

How about this Wildebeest, who gave us a dirty look when we encountered him – then moments later a number of them were headed somewhere – and they were in a hurry – well, except for the last one, who stopped to have another stare down with us – check it out:
It was always a surprise to see these majestic creatures running fast!
Speaking of fleeing – how about this fast moving PYTHON!
Wow! We only slowed for a moment, because we were chasing more wild dogs! We were on an afternoon safari in Botswana’s Linyanti River Delta when our guide got the word that wild dogs were on the run! Note: I let this clip play out because we were bounced around in the Jeep trying to stay up with them – yes, another “safari massage!”
How incredible that we saw wild dogs twice!
Finally, not all of the animals were in a hurry….check out this very chill wild Rhino in the Kalahari Desert:
We saw so many incredible animals, and Rhinos aren’t the only ones who were always relaxed and in no hurry:

Elephant herds were everywhere, and they take their time grazing, drinking out of ponds – you see they can do anything they want! And they do NOT like to be bothered.
Here’s the story of my very unsettling “close call” elephant encounter:
I also shared an exciting two hour “walking tour” of the Linyanti Delta basin – with evidence of wild animals all around us. Like this evidence:

That’s my wife Alex smelling dried elephant dung!
Oh yes she did – see that wild story here:
With so much excitement during the day, we were always hungry – and the “safari food” was incredible!
See my “safari slider” burger here!
So much food fun! I already shared a story about how they greeted us at Singita Boulders in South Africa on our first night, plus a look at the festive food welcome we got when we arrived…see it here!
