Looking For Me?
I wasn’t sure if this wild Lion was smiling – or thinking about how I’d taste for dinner!
You see, on our African safari last summer, we saw more wild Lions than we thought imaginable – and closer than we thought possible!

We encountered Lions at Singita Boulders South Africa, Dinaka safari lodge in the Kalahari Desert, the Okavango Delta of Botswana, and the Linyanti river basin in Northern Botswana as well….

We got to watch a pride of 17 Lions resting after a kill: at one point they were all around us! Check out their affection for each other:
And this Lion didn’t expect our Jeep to come by…annoyed by us or just or confused, we couldn’t tell!
And here’s a great clip: this Lion takes a look around, then decides to come our way, and brought his friend too – watch as he then sneezes right on camera!

These two Lions acted like they owned the place – which they do of course – they love the warm soft sand in the winter and like to lounge on it – even though it’s the only road for the Jeep!

I love that a safari is completely without barriers: no walls or fences at all – the animals have complete free reign everywhere except near towns, but even then there are few barriers set up…and out here in the Okavango Delta of Botswana, the Lions are everywhere – so much so that they actually tracked US to the airport!
I share all of these videos of course on my YouTube channel, but I also cut together a much longer cut if you want to see these videos married to the song “Wonder Where The Lions Are” by Bruce Cockburn…you can see it here:
One reason we captured so many wild animals on our safari is because they are free – and safe – to roam…so, we not only encounters lots of Lions but also beautiful creatures like this baby rhino and her Mom…
There are important anti-poaching efforts there to protect these magnificent animals – all supported by tourism dollars…see more of that story here:
The open space allows wild animals to roam freely, like this solo Lion was doing – looking for the rest of the pride!

We also came across some very noisy Lions, and after tracking them for a half hour we saw what they were talking about!

I also shared a very funny Lion encounter – with this guy!

This belligerent Baboon tormented a pride of Lions – see how it ended here!
More Lions to come, plus Elephants, Hippos, Giraffes and so much more!

I may be wrong but if I can read faces correctly most of the lions said the same thing ‘Oh, for goodness sake, would the sun go down faster and those idiots stop staring and get lost in those horrid noisy, stinky machines and give us some peace . . . I bet they don’t even taste good – not much meat on those bones . . . not worth it . . . ‘
