Time To Celebrate Turkeys!
Yes, a giant Turkey float rolled down New York’s Central Park West as the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade celebrated 2025!
Once again, we were lucky enough to see it up close – and here’s how that happens:
The parade begins at 80th and Central Park West, and winds southbound down that road, which has Central Park on one side…
The road is barricaded off, and the park side is ticketed – BUT anyone can watch from the other side – the key is to get there early. The parade starts at 8:30a, and I got our seats in front of our apartment building at 7a – here’s what it was like:
Apartment owners had reserved seats, the others got there as early as 4a to grab a prime spot…yes, a long wait, but here’s why you do it:
Buzz Lightyear!
Yes, the parade floats literally go right over your head!
And there goes Super Mario as well!
There were 34 different floats going by, and marching bands as well!
This was my view from our apartment: I stayed inside, as I was making brunch for Alex and friends who were at street level:
The parade lasts for more than 3 hours, and it’s a blast as you see bands, floats and performers go by…and then, it was time to welcome Spiderman:
Everyone loves him, and of course Santa wraps it up at the end:
Then it was time to eat, and yes, ev en though it was brunch, I served my favorite White Caste stuffing alongside a frittata and bagels and cream cheese!
It’s a perfect side dish for eggs…see how good it is here!
After that, we settled in for the greatest thanksgiving movie of them all:

I love parades, and this one looks great. We hardly have any in Suffolk, but there are lots of parades and carnivals to go to in the summertime on the Isle of Wight.

John, this is a memory maker. How wonderful to be there, up close. We watch the parade on TV every year. Hubby marched in the parade with his high school band in ’65. He remembers how big the floats were. Very cool!

The one Thanksgiving we spent while living in NYC we opted to watch it from the cozy confines of our Williamsburg apartment and I have never regretted that decision lol. But the in person experience sure does look fun too!

I completely understand as it is a madhouse to be sure! The only reason we do it is because our building can reserve seats up front…but the sidewalk behind is PACKED with people who set up their chairs at 4a! Thanks for the comment always great to hear from you!

I’m not sure how he got past the police barricades but a friend used to tell stories about going late at night/early morning to Central Park and watching the organizers get the floats ready for the parade. Looks like this years was a blast!

I love that! on Wednesday afternoon there was a 26 block long line of people waiting to walk by the floats as they blow them up…a tradition but it takes forever! People were having fun and didn’t care!

If I had a bucket list, I think this would be on it. What a great parade! I love seeing those giant balloons, I didn’t realize how enormous they really are! My favorite park of any Thanksgiving meal is the dressing, so that was a perfect item to have for brunch!
