  1. Thanks for the list, John, I will share it with movie watching family members. Raquel Welch was such a beautiful woman, I always admired her.

  3. Diffent tastes are what makes life interesting. I checked out the list on the link, and there is not a single film I would watch, even if they delivered a free copy to my house. 🙂
That said, I am sure most of them will be very popular with modern audiences, if not with old grumpy film fans in England.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • HA! It is a very pop culture/superhero/escapist list, but it’s summer when NOTHING too serious ever gets released! By the way Pete, the new movie “Air” is terrific – best film I’ve seen so far this year…smart, and surprisingly funny and engaging…and it’s the story of a basketball shoe that doesn’t waste a frame on the sport in action!

    • Oh, I’m sorry to hear that Pete, but also keep in mind that, here in the Midwest, Summer lasts exactly 3 and a half months, and then its back to me watching the more serious movies again for the next 8 months! Oh, and I often have my nieces and nephews in tow during the Summer months, so yeah, not a single serious movie for any of us during Summer vacation! (( I tend to break out the weightier film trailers in the Fall.)

      Thanks for reading though!

      • I also told Pete that, when the fall arrives, so do the more serious, award worthy films – these are for “hot fun in the summertime!”

      • I don’t have to take any young ones to the cinema, which is just as well. The constant Hollywood diet of super heroes, comic-book characters, unfunny comedies, and remakes has worn me down over the years. I yearn for films with zero CGI, and serious themes. These days, I mainly tend to find them made in countries that don’t speak English though.
It’s nothing personal, I’m just an old man from England who loves cinema, and yearns for a return to the golden age, B.T. (Before Titanic)
For what it’s worth, the current favourite film on my top ten list is still an American film, ‘Blade Runner’. The original 1982 film of course.

        Top Ten Films

        Best wishes, Pete.
