Have You Been To Malibu’s Paradise Cove? It’s The World’s Most Exclusive Trailer Park!

Welcome To Malibu’s Legendary Paradise Cove!

Paradise indeed!

This is a three part tale of a magical place: it’s the story of Malibu’s unique paradise getaway called Paradise Cove”; it’s our fun trip there right before the pandemic when we were celebrating Alex’s birthday with a “pasta straw”; and it’s a fascinating look at the “trailer park” that hovers above it all…with a topping of classic Beach Boys as well!

First, let’s show you Paradise Cove, beginning on the beach – first looking south toward the Pier, then north toward the cliffs that tower above the Pacific Ocean:

We will head along the beach to a very special place by those cliffs – immortalized by The Beach Boys – but first, we need to eat!

We went to lunch at the legendary Bob Morris’s Paradise Cove Beach Cafe, which sits right on Paradise Cove…in fact, you can sit outside with your feet in the sand!

Paradise Cove in Malibu is a public beach in front of a privately-owned facility by the same name. Bob Morris’s Paradise Cove Beach Cafe has surfboards all around and the outside seating area has wooden lounge chairs, palm trees, and thatched umbrellas. You can sit inside or outside.

The walls are stuffed with framed photos from all eras – and plenty of “customer autographs” as well!

Time To Get My “Boba” On!

The restaurant itself is campy fun – and we jumped right in with a Watermelon Rum Boba drink that was massive in size- and served with a “pasta straw!”

Yes, the drinks were big, and the pasta straws worked perfectly!

When you come to a place like this, you expect a certain kind of food – and in this case we got that and more!

Alex loved her massive shrimp cocktail, and I went with one of my favorites: A thick, rich and “chock full of clams” clam chowder:

For our main courses, Alex went with a very nice grilled fish, while I had a trio of soft tacos: grilled fish, shrimp and carne asada….

After lunch, we headed north from the restaurant along the beach, where the cliffs tower above the ocean:

Take a moment and look at the cliffs over our shoulder – do they look familiar?

Well, one reason that Paradise Beach is iconic is because of this album cover:

Yes, the Paradise Cove Beach Cliffs provide the backdrop for The Beach Boys and their iconic “Surfing’ Safari!”

Check out this great video f the song with lots of surfing!

So there are two great reasons to love Paradise Cove: it’s the location of an iconic album from the “surfing’ 60’s”, but Alex had a “surfboard birthday” celebration there as well!

Now, here is the third reason that Paradise Cove is so unique: it’s has one of the world’s most exclusive MOBILE HOME PARKS!

The World’s Most Exclusive “Trailer Park!”

Yes, high above the beach sits the Paradise Cove Mobile Home Park – with 276 mobile homes!

Minnie Driver, Pamela Anderson and Matthew McConaughey have called this mobile home park their home. Vanity Fair once did a story, referring to it “Bohemia Cove”, highlighting:

“the surfboard-and-shirtless bohemian charms – not to mention those trailers, with their marble floors, Italian-granite countertops, and Sub-Zero appliances—which have sent the price of a tricked-out double-wide into the millions.”

I love this place, and Alex and I plan to go back again soon…you all know how much we love Malibu, especially when we walk along the beach and some “friends” pop up for a visit:

Yes, we’ve been visited by Dolphins and Seals on many occasions…here is that story, with some cool video as well:

California’s coast offers many surprises – just a 3 hour drive up the coast you can see these flying across the Pacific Ocean:

See the majesty of Cayucos here!

A bit further up the coast, we stood at the edge of the world – take a look:

It’s the farthest west you can stand – at the edge of the world!

See more here:

  1. I absolutely loved this post! Pasta straws- brilliant. Beach Boys- love their music. Who knew a trailer park could be so upscale?

  2. Fascinating spot. I want to visit someday. I also can’t remember being in a restaurant with a sandy floor. Isn’t it fascinating that sometimes the most straightforward solutions (noodle straws) can address a long-time waste problem?

  3. That’s a cool little spot on the planet. Love the food and vibe.

  5. I am on board with all of this, John. But that is not a Pier, by UK standards. We would call that a ‘Jetty’. No buildings, no entertainment, it is a ‘poor pier’.
I would have to be a billionaire to pay $4 million for a ‘home’ in a trailer park!
    Best wishes, Pete.
