Welcome To Beverly Hills!
Sometimes it’s easy to overlook the beauty of your local surroundings, but the other day, my wife Alex and I were in the center of Beverly Hills, and there was so much beauty all around us:
Bedford Drive is one of the most photographed streets in the city, because the 3 block long stretch of palm trees offers a perfect backdrop…take a drive with me:
We also walked by the new Mandarin Oriental hotel was the perfect backdrop for this fountain:
What a great day for a walk!
My wife was on her way to work once and called me to run up to the top of the Beverly Hills to get this sunrise over Los Angeles:
That’s downtown L.A. in the distance – it was a stunning way to start the day – you can see a video of it here:
Even though Beverly Hills is right below us, we still are up in the Hills and that means we get visitors:
We have deer visit quite often – here’s a look at more of our 90210 wildlife encounters:
The L.A. basin has so many places to explore: from Santa Monica and Venice Beach on the Pacific Ocean, to the celebrity enclave Malibu just north.
I was in Malibu and had a fun Dolphin encounter as well:
Malibu is less than a half hour drive along the ocean from Santa Monica, and worth the trip..here are more of my Dolphin encounters:
It had me wondering:
How do they sleep?

John, the weatherman just talked about blizzard conditions in southern California…and possibly snow on the Hollywood sign. Thought you might enjoy that report from Massachusetts.

I LOVE IT! I had hail at my house in Beverly Hills yesterday for almost an hour..left a snoy accumulation for a bit…and yes, for the first time in decades and decades, a dusting of snow on the sign! Wild stuff here today – 3″ of rain in a few hours…but we need it! Cheers!

Wow! Hail and snow in your neighborhood. The weatherman here got it right. Did you get photos? The rain will help the wildflowers bloom. For those who have never driven in snow or hail, 😳.

Not today however! Snow shutting down the highways into the mountains around us and being pummeled with rain – much needed but not all at once!

It’s important to see the beauty in your own backyard! That sunset was incredible.

I agree! So much beauty and nature surprisingly close to LA!

I am suitably envious of that location to live in, John. Though I have read today about snow blizzards affecting Los Angeles this February! Is that true? 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

It is, Pete! They actually recorded a bit of snow at the HOLLYWOOD sign for the first time in 50+ years! It’s more than a thousand feet up, and we are getting snow all around the L.A. basin! Our main highway through the mountains north is closed due to blizzard conditions! That said, we are getting record-breaking snow and that snowpack is what we use for water throughout the spring and summer as it melts – it’s re-directed to LA!

What a wonderful sunrise! We have an Oriental Mandarin Hotel too in the centre of London – it’s where Bon Jovi often stay when they play in the UK.

This was built right before the pandemic hit – a terrific rooftop restaurant offers views of the core are of Beverly Hills – where no building can be over 8 stories high!
