Good Morning From The Top Of Beverly Hills!
We all live in our own piece of paradise: our planet has endless natural beauty – so when my wife Alex headed to work the other day at 6am, she called me from her car and told me to get to the top of our hill ASAP!
The View From Beverly Hills 90210…
We live in a cult-de-sac, and at the top, there are spectacular views of the entire LA basin..which was just waking up….
Within minutes, the sun crept upwards, lighting the sky directly above downtown Los Angeles…
As the sky continued to light up, the outlines of the skyscrapers downtown began to appear in silhouette…
We are 9.8 miles away from downtown Los Angeles, and the view from the high part of Beverly Hills offers this stunning view, which today was being lit by a spectacular sunrise…
Here’s a look at my view of the entire area:
A gorgeous sunrise, right?
Well, what about this sunset?
That’s Alex toasting our first night on the Greek Island of Santorini, known for their mesmerizing sunsets…you can see more of them by clicking on my story here:
While the sun can rise dramatically over Los Angeles, it can fall equally as dramatically – from the Pacific Ocean seaside community of Malibu especially:
Stunning…I have been lucky enough to capture many of these moments and you can see them here – as well as a few shot through a “liquid lens!”

Wow! WOW!! Good thing Alex called so you didn’t miss this beauty. If I had to pick between sunrises or sunsets (hard choice), I would definitely pick sunsets. Thanks for photos, John!

It was incredible and worth the run up the hill to be sure~! I also love sunsets – they seem to linger in a more enjoyable way! Oh, and you can have a glass of wine while watching as well!

Great photos, John.
We have an old saying, “Red sky in the morning, Shepherd’s warning.” It usually indicates wet weather, though that presumably doesn’t apply in sunny Los Angeles. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

My dad and I send each other pictures of the sky all the time. I think I’d have him beat if I sent him these. Thanks for sharing!
