A “Fish And Chips” Pizza!
Let’s all say it together:
What The Friday!?!?!?
Just when I think I’ve seen it all…it’s the day of the week when the wacky, misguided and just plain wrong lead the way into the weekend.
As some of you know, I love a good “food mashup”…but what to make of this?
Yes, that is a pizza covered with fish and chips!
It’s real, and SoraNews24 has the story! As they report – this is from Domino’s Pizza Japan:
“Its latest innovation is a fish and chips pizza. Called the Sakusaku (“Crispy”) Fish and Chips, it’s topped with slices of fried fish and potato, both tomato and tartar sauces, and sprinkled with basil. Perhaps the most unusual ingredient is lemon, in that instead of squeezing some citrus juice on the pizza like you might a basket of pub fish and chips, there are actual lemon slices, peels included, used as a topping!”
As you can imagine, the initial reaction has been, shall we say, polarizing?
In fact, some have gone online to call it:
“designed to insult both England and Italy at the same time!”

Full disclosure: I love fish’n’chips, so I would try this, even though there is absolutely NO REASON for it to exist!
Of course, those intrepid Reporters at SoraNews24 have the story – including the offended Londoner they apologized to on social media – with a very tempting offer as well, and you can see more of their reporting here:
Wacky pizzas are nothing new to me:
That’s right, it’s a “Kit Kat Pizza!”

Now, not ALL Pizza needs to be mashed up…sometimes, a pizza can become a legend for just being the best in class:
Inn this case, 50 years of classic “deep dish” Chicago pizzas have made Lou Malnati’s a legend…see how they do it and bite into one here:

“designed to insult both England and Italy at the same time!”
And quite frankly, this is also an insult to the Japanese, as whoever made this clearly does not understand the fine art of pizza!

Great point – but Domino’s has a history in Japan of doing strange food mashups, which seem to be popular there! I love that quote as well, seems to nail it!

Potato and dough seems a bit much but I’d give it a go! Although, hold the lemon slices on my portion please – save those for the gin and tonic 😉

HA! I would try it – agree on the potato but you have to have chips, right? And what a great idea, because I think you’d need a few drinks to make it through a whole pie! Thanks for commenting!
