Oopsie! Here’s My “Oopsie Cloud Bread Bun Burger” Recipe For National Burger Month!

It’s “National Burger Month!”

Look, I know you think I made this up – but I didn’t – May is indeed “National Burger Month” and I decided to celebrate by making a very unique bun for my burger!

It all began when my wife Alex sent me this recipe for “Oopsie Bread” – a very healthy Keto recipe for a flourless bread…which I will say looked incredible – bravo to Wholesome Yum for this….so I thought to myself: why don’t I make it into a hamburger bun?

Let’s Get Baking!

I gathered the very few ingredients needed for the “Oopsie” bread – minus the cream of tartare which I didn’t have – and followed this very easy and fun recipe!

First, I separated my egg whites and yolk…I crack the egg and then let the whites slip between my fingers into a bowl…easy!

Next, I blended my egg whites into a frothy foam….well, probably no where near as frothy as they’d like, but once that was done I put my Mascarpone cheese into a bowl with the gg yolks and some salt and blended that as well:

And what does it sound like when you blend it?

Well, I’ve got a short and sweet answer here!

Next up, you combine the white frothy egg whites and the yolk/cheese mix to create your batter:

At this point, the recipe calls for you to turn the mixture into discs that you bake on parchment paper at 300 degree for a half hour….but that’s not how it turned out for me:

I immediately realized my batter was far too thin to shape it, so I put a thin layer in a pan as you can see and baked it – and guess what? It turned out perfectly for me to cut these two “buns” out – although mine were square!

Time To Cook Up Our Burger!

With my square “oopsie bun” ready to go, it was time to cook the burger!

I use 80/20 ground beef, but you can do 90/10 if you want less fat…I add salt and pepper, and sometimes I use Worcestershire as well, but with the egg bun I decided not to…

I formed my patty and cooked it for about 4 minutes on each side before adding slices of my favorite cheese – that’s right, it’s Tillamook’s Sharp Cheddar!

Now, I have a short video of the burger cooking in the pan, because it always sounds so enticing!

I let the cheese melt a bit more than this picture shows, then I dressed my “oopsie” bun with my favorites: dill pickle chips, a slice of tomato and of course, mayonnaise!

So there you have it: all of the elements are in place for my “oopsie burger” – so let’s reveal it now!

OK, I admit that an “oopsie burger” looks a bit different but guess what?

It tasted delicious!

The creamy marscapone flavor inside this eggy bun made the “oopsie bun” a hit – and of course, any burger with mayo, pickle and tomato under a Tillamook hood is a winner!

I got us started off with a look at some of my favorite burgers of all time – like thw “In-n-Out” burger you see above, as well as incredibly inventive burgers like the “Squeeze with Cheese” shown here:

  3. Okay, that Oopsie bread might be nice, but I want a nice bun with my burger. I can’t have a burger tonight, as we have an Indian lamb curry that my wife has cooked from scratch. However, eating inside is now ‘open’ again in England, and I have booked a table for Sunday evening at a pub where I know I can get a nice juicy burger!
