Home Made “Cup Noodles” Octopus Balls! “What The Friday!?!?!” Here’s The “Takoyaki” Recipe You Can Make!

Make Your Own Octopus Balls – With Cup Noodles!

In the mood for some “Takoyaki” but don’t know how to make them yourself? Well, all I can say is this: “What The Friday!?!?!?!”

Yes, we are going to make some Octopus Balls – known as “Takoyaki” – at home using Cup Noodles!

First and foremost, they are known officially as “Cup Noodles”, even though we called them “Cup ‘O Noodles” in the US…

But these are “Cup Noodles” now, and the company has a unique new way to use their product – including the iconic Takoyaki Octopus Ball!

As SoraNews24.com reports:

“Cup Noodle maker Nissin itself created the recipe for “Cup Noodle Takoyaki,” combining its famous instant ramen line with the signature snack of Osaka: takoyaki octopus dumplings.

So how do you make Cup Noodle Takoyaki? Surprisingly, you don’t need any octopus, since this is really more about the spirit of takoyaki, and the list of ingredients is kept short and simple.”

Yes, you can make these dumpling at home with just these few ingredients – and just add some fresh Octopus if you so desire:

● 1 Cup Noodle pack
● 1 egg
● Water (200 milliliters [6.8 ounces])
● Flour (3 tablespoons)
● Cooking oil (a dash)

What’s cool is that you use the dried cup noodles as the base for a delicious “Takoyaki” ball!

The recipe is simple – you take your dried cup noodles and crush them up, then add them to the other ingredients and form into balls…there are professional Takoyaki cookers in Japan, which look like this:

You can also deep fry them or even cook them in a pan after shaping into balls.

Our friends at SoraNews24 have the entire thing – you can add Octopus or not, the choice is yours.

I want to thank SoraNews24.com for providing this recipe, and they have easy step-by-step instructions at their website here:

You can decide if you want to add Octopus to these balls, or put any kind of cool extra you want, like beef, chicken, shrimp or tofu! Oh, and the next time you go to Japan, you have to check out this amazing museum:

That’s right, this is the official “Cup Noodles Museum!”

So cool to see the history of this iconic snack – click here for a tour of the museum!

Before you leave, one more “noodle” story to share:

Ramen Noodle Baths!

For those who have followed me for awhile, I reported on this funny trend a few years ago, and in researching it again, it appears it’s a fad that is destined to stay – and why not?

It’s healthy for you, and will ALWAYS be a perfect “What The Friday?!”

“The baths use a pork-based broth that is packed with collagen believed to improve the skin of patrons.”

Well, if you say so! See more of the health benefits that come from bathing in ramen noodles by clicking on my story here:

  4. I have never eaten pot noodles. I can’t think that I’ve even noticed them in the shops; I’ll have to look and see. I’ll skip the bath though.

  5. Over here, they are called ‘Pot Noodles’, John. They are regarded as quite ‘nasty’ by most people, and considered to be a cheap snack for students and the like. They usually contain lots of chemical additives. https://www.potnoodle.com/
