“AHHH!!!! Kelly Clarkson!” The Hilarious Origin Of “The 40 Year Old Virgin” Kelly Clarkson Shout Out! Seth Rogan’s Handwriting Reveal!

“K-K-K-Kelly Clarkson!”

Yes, Kelly Clarkson was the first “American Idol” winner, and the TV show rocketed her to stardom. But it was THIS classic moment from the hilarious comedy “The 40 Year Old Virgin” – as Steve Carell was having his chest waxed, that made Kelly an Icon:

Kelly’s name was forever etched in movie history, so when she launched her own, daily talkshow in September, the surprises began on the very first episode, when Steve Carell shocked the audience by stepping out at the top of the show and proclaiming:

“AHHH!!!! Kelly Clarkson!”

It was the perfect way to start her new talk show!

Ever since the show premiered in September 2019, they have tried to combine humor and heart with Kelly’s signature empathy and sense of fun!

And now, we know how Kelly’s name got used in “40 Year Old Virgin!”

The Source Of Steve Carell’s Shout Out!

On a recent all new episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show”, the film’s Writer / Director Judd Apatow revealed how the shout out came about!

Judd had a really funny response to Kelly’s question – and the Show Producers had a very profane scrap of paper ready to share as well – yes, there had been a list of things for Carell to scream out!

Look at that list!

So much of it had to be blurred out because they were just too profane for daytime TV!

And speaking of “HILARIOUS”, what about the film – check out the trailer:

“The 40-Year Old Virgin” is hilarious., profane, and sweetly touching – a great cast, a “sharp as nails” script, and really good direction means this is a classic – every time I see this trailer I watch the film again!

Love the Kelly interview with Judd Apatow, love that Steve Carell was the first ever celebrity not he show, and yes, I love the show itself.

Remember, with ALL NEW episodes every day, you can always see surprising and fun moments like this:

Did you see the moment when Actor Jon Cena surprised Singer Sho Madjozi while she was singing her song “Jon Cena?”

    • She is genuinely the nicest talent we’ve ever worked with – although Joan Rivers was also the greatest in that regard!

      • Good to know that about Kelly. Anytime fame doesn’t go to you Head is really good. I heard that about Joan Rivers, too. I saw her in SanFrancisco in the 70’s and never laughed so hard.

      • She threw my wife and I a wedding shower, we worked with her for 8 years – we are the ones who put her on the Academy Awards red carpet for E! She was the greatest!

      • I didn’t know that, John. How wonderful! It must make you feel good, deep down, that you put her on the Academy Awards red carpet for E! There is much to be said for goodness.

John Phillips said it best of all in the 1700’s, and my remembrance of his quote is close enough: Knowledge without goodness is dangerous, and goodness without knowledge is feeble. Yet, the two united form the noblest character and the surest foundation of usefulness for mankind.

I love that!! It sounds like you, and like Kelly.

      • Thanks for the comment and the quote – I love that!

  5. I am so glad that the show went well, even though I have never been able to see it. But I just cannot stand Carell. He’s on the same level as Adam Sandler as far as I am concerned. Two US comedy stars that fail to ‘translate’ for me across an ocean.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  6. I loved they movie and remember howling when he yelled that line!

  7. A lovely post, John. I remember that first episode of Kelly’s show and that big exclamation. She is doing so well and seems such a nice person.
