More Great Kelly Clarkson #Kellyoke!
This week’s “Songs For Sunday” are all from the incredibly talented Kelly Clarkson and her daily talk show, where she opens every single show with #Kellyoke!
Kelly’s show mixes humor and heart, and a great collection of Guests from movies, TV, music and pop culture. She also has stories about real people who are making a positive difference inter communities.
Kelly begins each episode with a cover version of a great song – and as Vulture.com just asked:
“Is there a note she can’t hit?”
The terrific pop culture website, part of New York magazine, was floored by Kelly’s incredible cover of Whitney Houston’s 1987 power ballad “Run To You”, and you will too:
Kelly was accompanied by a true Icon: Grammy-winning jazz Saxophonist Kirk Whalum, who is also the father of Kelly’s bandmate Kyle Whalum!
I love when Kelly has other musical Artists join her and her band.
Next up, here’s Kelly performing the classic Rod Stewart hit “Some Guys Have All The Luck”:
After she finished the song, Kelly told her audience that her voice was a bit raspy that day, so she chose Stewart to sing!
And here is another great cover song: Kelly performing the hypnotic “Havana” by Camila Cabello:
Finally, here’s a great song that included a whole bunch of other Musicians onstage.
Kelly delivered a powerful performance of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” accompanied by the University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band – check it out!
Make sure to watch the show every day too see what she will sing next – and you can also follow the show here, where you can find out about upcoming guests:

She is so fun! And, while I still miss Whitney Houston’s voice every single day, Kelly’s rendition is a balm. Thanks for posting!

Thank you for reading! Whitney’s story is still so tragic and unnecessary….

Haven’t heard a voice I love as much as hers (before she wrecked it, that is) since. When I’m feeling really sad and sappy, I listen to her rendition of the gospel great, “His Eye is on the Sparrow” and get all teary-eyed. There John, you’re making me spill one of my most embarrassing secrets!

Thanks for sharing this! It’s better to remember her incredible talent and acknowledge her personal demons briefly – too many people make that the story and the story was and always will be her gift!

She is! Also, the show regularly has inspiring stories of Teachers and Educators stepping up to do all they can to help their students of all ages…Kelly’s Mom was a teacher and it is very important to her to champion that cause…if you haven’t gone to the show’s Facebook page, they regularly share those moments as well!

All great renditions of the songs, John. I particularly like the Rod Steward song.

As I said in my story, she was fighting a sore throat that day so changed the song that morning, because she felt her slight raspiness worked well with a Rod song! Thanks as always for reading and sharing!

I must be honest, I didn’t really notice the raspiness, but I do love that song and she does it well. I wasn’t sure if I’d like a female rendition.

I think Kelly’s idea of a raspy voice is just that she wants to be flawless at all times…thanks so much for listening and sharing it – I truly appreciate it!

Thanks for following along Pete…and the Saxophone player is the father of Kelly’s band member…so they did a great piece with them both as well!
