“The Wrong Missy!” Raucous, Raunchy Star-Making Performance By Lauren Lapkus On Netflix Is My “Cult Movie Monday”!

“The Wrong Missy!”

David Spade plays an uptight sales guy who goes on a disastrous, but really funny, first date.

Tim thinks he’s invited the woman of his dreams on a work retreat to Hawaii, realizing too late he mistakenly texted someone from a nightmare blind date. When she shows up on the plane, the hilariously profane fun begins!

Here is the trailer:

You see, Lauren Lapkus is “Missy” – this awful blind date – and she’s NOT the “Missy” he fadeout with in an airport storage closet…trust me, it makes sense!

Nick Swardson is hilarious as the “HR” guy who sees tapped into ALL of Spade’s devices – but it is Lauren’s incredibly raucous and raunchy performance that steals the show!

You see, this getaway is also Spade’s company retreat with the company’s “hardass” President – yes, it’s straight out of the “rom com playbook” – but it works because Lapkus is hilariously funny – and the scenes just get wilder and wilder!

Again, this is a raunchy, “R” rated romantic comedy, but it is REALLY FUNNY….you just have to sit back and let Lapkus take over!

Even Spade does a great job, because he wisely plays the straight man, setting her up for the wildly inappropriate things she does, with some funny, subtle one-liners throughout…it’s really funny!

Again, it’s a star-making, chew the scenery, hilariously “anything goes” performance by Lauren Lapkus!

Sometimes you admire a star who is willing to just “go there” – and be a character you laugh at – until you fall in love with them – like Romy and Michelle:

Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow give perfect performances the the ditzy, but ultimately heartwarmingly funny duo who have to go to their high school reunion:

The best news: Sorvino recently said they may do a sequel! Click here for a look at the original film:

Netflix has been on a role lately, with a number of cut romantic comedies like this one:

This is a really funny film, helped by a terrific performance by Keanu Reeves, play – Keanu Reeves!

WESTWOOD, CALIFORNIA – MAY 22: (L-R) Nahnatchka Khan, Ali Wong, Randall Park and Keanu Reeves arrive at the premiere of Netflix’s “Always Be My Maybe” at the Regency Village Theatre on May 22, 2019 in Westwood, California. (Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images)

Keanu had a blast playing a pompous version of himself, and the entire movie is a cut romantic comedy that is a great way to take your mind of of the pandemic…see the trailer here:

  1. Even the pictures you have shared are funny, John. Thanks for this interesting share.

  2. I usually opt for goofy over raunchy, but she looks like she might be the next breakout funny star! Her look reminds me just a little of comedian Kristen Schaal, who I first saw on Flight of the Conchords and loved. She’s hysterical. Actually, I’ve been catching more comedy than usual lately–not surprisingly needing something to laugh about!–and watched some stand-up from English comedian Noel Fielding the other night. Thanks for the tip on the movie. I’ll let you know if I catch that one!

  3. I don’t think this is for me, John. Sometimes ‘over the top’ doesn’t work for me, and judging by the trailer, this is one of those times. Glad you loved it though.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • I get it Pete…since Netflix is so cheap, and putting out new movies every week, it was a cheap, profane and funny watch! I just love that you have a hundred movies to choose from – there has to be something to watch!

    • Someone else told me they turned it off – they hated it – but I thought Lauren stole every single scene she was in with a fearless , no holds barred performance! Thanks for commenting, always great to hear from you!
