“Then my ankle twisted and I started to fall in slow motion.”
With these words, Author Deborah Wolff takes you on a hilariously intense year of reality TV!

“One Year Of Reality And How It Nearly Killed Me”
Have you ever wondered just how they make reality TV? Do you want to experience the behind-the-scenes thrills, anxiety and near-death experience of working on shows like “The Amazing Race?”

Then this is the book for you! I worked with Deborah Wolff at G4 for several years, and she is a terrific Production Manager/Line Producer/Exec in Charge of Production…if you want to know what that means, then you must read this book!

Deborah Wolff has a degree in cinema and television from the University of Southern California. She has written a terrific memoir about her life in television.

In one crazy year, she worked on “The Amazing Race”, “The Mole”, AND “Fear Factor!” Her stories about life on the road making these shows is fascinating – like getting the “Amazing Race” contestants out of one country and into another!

“The visa office was only open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So the earliest we could get them would be Wednesday. NO WAY! Not acceptable. I was screaming that in my head while trying to have a pleasantly firm conversation with the visa person.”
The book is full of great stories about the difficulties of mounting a reality show when the entire WORLD is your set!

There are so many great stories in the book, and I asked Deborah about the best part of writing it…
“If I had to pick one thing I learned”, she told me, “even though my experiences are unique to me, I am not alone. There are so many other crazier, more dangerous stories than even I went through from other crew across many shows!”
And that is what makes reality TV so fascinating – the book gives you the intense detail about what it takes to make a TV show…it’s a great ride!

Bravo Deborah on the book…another friend of mine also wrote a book about his life in TV:

AJ Benza was my host on E!’s “Mysteries & Scandals”, and he also wrote a great book about life in newspapers and TV…and last year he wrote a poignant memoir about growing up:
