Time For Some Great “Music In The Key Of T!”
I enjoy looking at a wide variety of songs that are either performed by an Artist with a specific “letter”, or the title of the song has it…so let’s get going – with Actress Keira Knightley!

10 – “Tell Me If You Want To Go Home” by Keira Knightley
There is SO much to love about this song. First, Keira Knightly sings it. Second, Mark Ruffalo plays guitar on it. Third, so does Hailee Steinfeld!

That’s Hailee shredding on the left…so much to tell you! This song is from the movie “Begin Again”, which is a great film, and Keira does a terrific job singing!
She told British magazine Hello! that one of the reasons why she took the part was to try to understand how music can affect people. “I don’t know anything about music at all. I never really listen to it. If it’s on in a room, I can’t really hear it. I don’t have that sort of brain,” the British star admitted. “And that’s another reason I was so interested in doing this film.”

I will share a link to the entire story about this terrific musical, where all of the songs are performed on New York streets! This one is on a roof, which is why you’ll hear a guy open his window and threaten to call the cops – watch and enjoy!
I cannot recommend this film highly enough – on my top 25 of all time – wonderful!
Click here to see the movie trailer and more about the film – and yes, Adam Levine of Maroon 5 has a large role too!
Next up…some 24k magic!

9 – “24k” by Bruno Mars
It’s the tile of his third album, and was a massive hit – I dare you not to get caught up in its funky groove!
Here’s the official music video of “24K” by Bruno Mars:
I love Bruno, and so does someone else, who took one of his classic songs and married it to vintage movie clips – the result is amazing, see it here:
Next up, an iconic Artist that I go “hot and cold” on, but this is a hot one to be sure:

8 – “Take A Bow” by Madonna
Madonna is of course a superstar, and I really love a lot of her music – but I also find some of it less enjoyable…still, this song is from a perfect album:

“Take A Bow” is from her 1994 album “Bedtime Stories”, which is the Madonna I like: a sultry groove and a focus on beautiful hooks…here is the video:
Now, I didn’t include the song “Thunderball” from the James Bond 007 film of the same name, but it’s great too! Why am I telling you this? Because Madonna wrote the WORST James Bond theme of all time – click here for proof!
Next up is a “far-too-little-known” group named after lead singer Dwight Twilley – with a slew of great “power pop” songs in the late 70’s and 80’s:

7 – “That I Remember” by The Dwight Twilley Band – With Tom Petty!
Dwight Twilley, shown on the right, and Phil Seymour were The Dwight Twilley Band, and this classic pop confection from the duo, called “That I Remember”, includes backup guitar work by Tom Petty!
Take a listen:
Thanks to “Rockshorts” for posting this on Youtube! It’s Dwight Twilley, Phil Seymour, Bill Pitcock, Jr. & guest bassist Tom Petty performing on “Wacko,” a short-lived Saturday Morning TV show!

Susan Cowsill Performed With Dwight Twilley Too!
After Phil Seymour left the band, Cowsills singer Susan Cowsill, performed with Twilley for years. For those who don’t know, The Cowsills were a singing family in the late 60’s with hits like “The Rain, The Park & Other Things” and “Hair” – yes, “HAIR!” They inspired the TV series The Partridge Family!
Here’s an homage to Twilley, who died in late 2023.
Next up, a hilariously soulful power ballad from one of the best selling albums of all time!

6 – “Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad” by Meatloaf
Who saw this coming? Writer Jim Steinman wrote a rock opera, Meatloaf sang the songs, and legend Todd Rundgren produced it – and it became the biggest selling album of all time!

From the title track to “Paradise By The Dashboard Lights” and this song, the album was a grand rock opera that blew the world away!
Here are a few lyrics:
“I poured it on and I poured it out
I tried to show you just how much I care
I’m tired of words and I’m too hoarse to shout
But you’ve been cold to me so long
I’m crying icicles instead of tears
And all I can do is keep on telling you
I want you (I want you)
I need you (I need you)
There ain’t no way I’m ever gonna love you
Now don’t be sad (don’t be sad ’cause)
‘Cause two out of three ain’t bad
Now don’t be sad (’cause)
‘Cause two out of three ain’t bad”
Don’t be sad indeed – here is the great music video!
The phenomenal success of “Bat Out Of Hell” made Meatloaf a star – at one point it was the best-selling album in history!
Much credit goes to the Artist Todd Rundgren, who produced the album…

Many of you know I am a huge fan of Todd Rundgren – “Todd Is God” is a phrase his lifelong fans use.
In addition to producing the “Bat Out Of Hell” album, Todd produced many more as well…see them all here:
Next up is a band I was slow to warm to – and who also has one of the best selling albums of all time…after an acrimonious breakup with lead singer Roger Waters, Pink Floyd soldiered on with more massive hits like this one:

“The Division Bell” in 1994 was another Piink Floyd smash, and included this song, one of their most commercial – and catchiest – ever:

5 – “Take It Back” by Pink Floyd
Diehard fans do NOT like the song, but I love the catchy hook, so enjoy!
Pink Floyd also had one of the best-selling albums of all time – an enduring classic:

“Dark Side Of The Moon” still holds the record for the longest time on the Billboard 200 album charts. As of last April, the album has remained on the charts for 989 weeks!

Oh, and the album plays perfectly as the soundtrack to “The Wizard Of Oz!”
Click here for the wild story!
Here’s another Iconic Artist, even though she’s only had a few albums!

4 – “Turning Tables” by Adele
Adele is one of the world’s most popular Singers, with a powerful voice that can also deliver a soft reflective ballad like this:

Adele had this ballad about losing someone from her album “21” – here’s a live version where she explains what happened right after she wrote it:
Of course, she also sang one of the five best James Bond themes for “Skyfall” – she can do no wrong!
Now, one of the biggest bands of the 80’s and 90’s has a terrific song that is just one word repeated three times!

3 – “Tonight, Tonight, Tonight” by Genesis
Genesis was one of the great bands: massive selling songs like this one as well as “Invisible Touch”, “Mama” and of course Phil Collins with his iconic solo song “In The Air Tonight”:

Just a great band – and a great single as well – here is the music video – with a brooding setup, quite visual:
The band was originally fronted by Peter Gabriel – and what a story of his leaving the band! Of course, this terrific documentary tells the entire story – and they all participate – click here for more!
Next, another one of the biggest albums of all time, from Alanis Morisette – which led to her followup:

2 – “Thank U” by Alanis Morissette
Yes, it’s the song where Alanis walks through New York and rides a subway nude – nothing seen of course, but clearly nude….it’s from her fourth studio album, which was titled Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (1998).

A beautifully made music video – see it here:
Finally, we end this look at the letter “T” with another legendary Singer/Songwriter has had many career transformations:

1 – “Tight Connection To My Heart” by Bob Dylan
Yes, Dylan is in the groove in this music video!
In 1985, Bob Dylan released his twenty-third studio album, Empire Burlesque – watch the official music video of ‘Tight Connection To My Heart (Has Anyone Seen My Love)’ now.

Dylan was, of course, also part of one of the greatest “supergroups” of all time – along with Tom Petty, ELO’s Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and George Harrison – see their music here:

A great list. We stumbled across Begin Again and it’s become one of my favorite movies. I need to watch it again. Adam Levine as the bad guy. Ha, ha. And yes, love many of the songs in the movie. Keira Knightly singing . . . who knew?

Funny story. My wife had it on. I was on my way out for a quick run. I never made it out of the house. It sucked me in and never let go. 😎

John, I had never even heard of that film, or Keira singing. Happy to learn something new. ‘Bedtime Stories’ became my favourite Madonna album, and the one CD of hers I always choose to listen to now. It gets better every time I hear it.
Best wishes, Pete.

I had forgotten about begin again, but should see it again, and dark side of the moon was my favorite album I’ve ever seen performed live.
