Where Is Clint Eastwood’s New Movie?
Wait, you didn’t know there WAS a new Clint Eastwood film? That’s because the studio behind it has buried it!

The film is called “Juror #2”, and it’s 94 year old Eastwood’s 40th film as a Director!
So where is it? Nowhere! You see, Warner Bros. Discovery has given it a token 50 screen release in a few cities in the US, with no advertising at all! It just opened last Friday and will be gone tomorrow. One of cinema’s most acclaimed filmmakers and his movie was BURIED.
Here is the trailer, which as you can see must be watched on YouTube – just click to go there:
While the reviews have been very strong, the company decided to bury the film, with no promotion whatsoever – a real shame!

In the “new world order” of Hollywood, where films are often put on streaming services immediately, this one is a big mystery – since no one at the studio will explain what is going on!
Here’s the story according to various online entertainment news sites:
“Juror #2” was originally conceived as a streaming release, as first reported by Puck and confirmed by a source. The studio shifted to theatrical after screening the film, which was produced on a budget in the mid-$30 million range. While next week’s limited release will serve as an awards-qualifying run, sources tell Variety that the film is not being perceived as a major Oscar player internally at Warner Bros. Notably, “Juror #2” isn’t featured on the company’s FYC 2024 webpage.
“FYC” stands for “for your consideration” – which would encourage voters to give the film Oscar nominations…remember, two films Eastwood directed have won Best Picture Of The Year!

Both films were also massive box office hits.
In fact, Eastwood was known for his ability to make his films very economically, and always coming in under budget. Among his big hits were “The Bridges Of Madison County”, the “Dirty Harry” films, and so many others.

This story has puzzled many entertainment outlets. As one noted:
“The hush-hush rollout for “Juror #2” remains a peculiar approach for a filmmaker who still has commercial appeal. “American Sniper” was the highest-grossing domestic release of 2014.
And speaking of his continued box office appeal:

Two of Eastwood’s most recent films, the critically acclaimed “Sully” and “The Mule,” both earned more than $100 million in North America alone!
Eastwood has delivered massive critical and commercial box office hits for the studio for decades:

But one story that has circulated says that new WBD head David Zazlov was unhappy with the box office for Eastwood’s last film, “Cry Macho”, which to be fair was released in the midst of the pandemic…he is quoted as saying about Eastwood: “it’s not show friends, it’s show business.”

There are so many stories circulating now about the disrespect being shown the Actor/Director…again, a sad story and he deserves better…if you want to celebrate his work, here is a look at some of his greatest films:
One year in particular stood out for Eastwood:

In 1971, Eastwood released three films, and they are all classic! See an closeup look at all of those films here:
By the way, he shot scenes for “Misty” in this iconic restaurant:

And so we ate there, and drank in Clint’s bar seat too!
See the food and behind the scenes stories here:
He also knew about to make big action films as well…here are three of the best from the 70’s:

HI John, very strange behaviour. It would be interesting to see the film and see what it’s like. 94 is very old to be making films.

What a shame, Doesn’t the studio realize any Clint Eastwood film is a money-maker, and also successful?

It’s a new world order here and the company that is doing this has lost 70% of their value in the last two years…they are doing it to send a message that no talent is safe from them –

I would think losing 70% would be proof that they’re wrong.

You’ve peaked my interest John. You’ve got me reading up on this. It’s almost criminal. Maybe your post mentioned this and I just missed it, but the movie played in just 25 to 35 theaters. Really? Geeesh. Got a pretty good critics score on Rotten Tomatoes too. All that for a tax write-off. Yea, I can understand why their stock hasn’t done well. Long-term that’s no way to run a company. If I was Zasloff, I wouldn’t get too comfortable.

Okay, I get corporate craziness, I’ve seen my share of it, but $30 million is still $30 million. Why not try to market it and see what it could do. And yes, I get there’s distribution expenses, but they’ve already made the decision to put the movie out there. If it wasn’t Eastwood, I would say that the decision feels very personal, like Warner Bros. was trying to personally screw Eastwood. It made me think of the Jack Woltz and the horse’s head scene in the Godfather and how he was trying to make sure that Johnny Fontane didn’t get the part. Wow . . . maybe life imitating art. Ha, ha.

This is the same Executive team that shelved “Batgirl” and the Wily Coyote films AFTER they were done and ready to release. They are burning down the house there as their stock has plummeted 70% since they took over – no respect to artists whatsoever.

A very strange decision not to give the movie a run. The trailer looks great, they have spent the money in making it, so why not give it an airing and recoup some of the costs?

The company is discarding Clint…they are overwhelmed by debt and this is a message to the artistic community that they no longer will have lush overall deals to develop material. the fact he made billions for earlier owners means nothing to them sadly. I work in the business and that is the current reality

I get that they need to reduce costs and send a signal, but it still seems odd to me that they aren’t trying to make any of their money back. An expensive signal for them!

Since they merged in 2022, WB and Discovery stock has gone down 70% – they are going to kill off their creative to save $…you know, cutting off their nose to spite their face. Shockingly disrespectful to Clint

A sad reflection on modern day business practices. They sound about as successful as Trump Casino, Trump University…

Indeed…I have worked my entire career in the entertainment industry and it is far worse than ever before…I think they must have graduated from Trump U and then put all their money on black to win!

I watched the trailer, and it has lots of positives. Good international cast, a courtroom drama with a twist, and some moody cinematography. These are the films they SHOULD be releasing, not more pointless remakes, Marvel comic-nonsense, and unfunny comedies with the same old faces in them. Streaming is going to kill off cinema to the extent that small children alive now will probably never know what it is like to watch a film in the proper environment.
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, you are right. They lost hundreds of millions on a Joker sequel and Clint is paying the price for their foolishness because his movies usually do well and are inexpensive

Crying out loud, the guy is 94, made another great film, and the studio is dragging it’s feet in releasing it. Get it out while he is still around to enjoy the public response.

this does seem like an odd decision on the studio’s part
