So, What Is A Jellyfish?
There is a reason I am asking. Well, they are amazing sea creatures to be sure…mesmerizing to watch and here is proof:
Now, the natural beauty of the Jellyfish has been discovered by Fashion Designers!
As The Guardian reported about this new fashion trend:
“they are made up of 95% water. Yet, for creatures that don’t have brains, hearts, or lungs, we sophisticated humans draw an awful lot of inspiration from them. From fashion to interiors, the jellyfish has somehow propelled its way on to the collective creative moodboard this year.”
Here’s proof!
And What Exactly Is “Jellyfish Fashion?”
Here’s how The Guardian describes it:
“The jellyfish haircut features short layers that resemble a short bob with longer layers underneath. If the name isn’t enough of a giveaway, the jellyfish cut is reminiscent of the sea creature from which it gets its name, with a round “body” (the short layers) and billowy “tentacles” (the longer layers).”
Need some more proof?
There you have it: ‘jellyfish fashion” on the runway…I’m not sure I ever really expect to see someone shopping in this at Target, but it is cool!
Let’s head to Monterey’s incredible Aquarium to see the real thing again in all its beauty:
That’s my wife Alex getting some closeup photos of them, and I took a lot of video capturing them – like this:
This Aquarium is incredible – here’s a closer look!
I have seen jellyfish in the wild before, but not ones that looked like this!
This was one of the thousands of wild blue jellyfish that invaded Malibu!
See what they are and why they came here:
Now, do you have an open mind?
Well, what if you went to the beach in Australia and saw this:
Yes, those are jellyfish! Click here to see what happened – and why I say we need to begin to cook with them more!
OK, trust me: you can eat jellyfish and I’ve done it!
Yes, I had jellyfish salad and you can too!

Hi John, I think this idea could actually be used much more effectively and create much more beautiful outfits. Interpretation doesn’t need to be this literal.

I doubt we will ever see these on the street or in a business meeting – and agree that a more creative interpretation would be much better! Thanks as always for the comment1

Okay, I’ll bite (pun intended), what did the jellyfish taste like? I see some references online to the texture being calimari-like. And yes, I think I’ll pass on the jellyfish fashion. I like things loose, but can’t see it working for me. 😆😎😎😎

HA! Thanks for the comment! The jellyfish I ate was indeed a bit like calamari – a bit chewy, not much flavor, but my point is that they are plentiful and healthy and sustainable and we need to start incorporating more of that! Agree on the fashion, not sure we will really ever see that hit our local towns!

I hear you about sustainability. It’s a major problem but we keep putting our heads in the sand.

Just when you think fashion designers can go no further, they prove you wrong! 😊
