How can you not love giraffes?
Here is how wikipedia describes them:
“The giraffe is a large African hoofed mammal belonging to the genus Giraffa. It is the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant on Earth.”
The “Largest Ruminant” Indeed!
That description is hilariously dry, because whenever I see a giraffe up close, I feel nothing but pure joy – and now Robbie Cheadle and another blogger are showcasing them as part of getting “in touch with nature!”
Robbie shared this exciting news the other day:
“Kaye and I are starting a new series this year entitled “In Touch With Nature”. We will be sharing information about the natural environment, and I will include some of my nature videos, artworks, and photographs.”
See this collaboration here, with terrific photos and facts from Safari – beginning with giraffes and lions too!
I have shared stories about giraffes before, and my wife Alex and I vow to stay in this hotel:
That’s because giraffes join you for breakfast!

And of course, if you go on safari, remember one very important rule:
“Don’t Run….Food Runs!”
It’s very true, and the title of a hilariously insightful book about Safaris, written by a tour guide!
Here is a link to my story about some of the most entertaining stories told by a seasoned safari guide – including the most important rule ever: “don’t run! FOOD runs!”
If you want a less “exciting” adventure, one that is closer to home, you should know about this incredible wine tasting Safari – in Malibu!
Yep, Stanley the Giraffe is there to greet you – it’s all up in the mountains overlooking Malibu’s Pacific Ocean!

Adorable post. My granddaughter and I had a chance to feed a giraffe with supplied watermelon chunks. He was extremely gentle, brushing our palms with his velvety lips.

I find them to be one of the coolest animals and I’ve always been drawn to them, they are so beautiful and unusual looking and seem like very gentle giants

I think it is such a tragedy that so-called ‘Game Hunters’ (So many of whom are American, sadly) can pay money to go and kill these gentle creatures. It may be an income stream for the Afrcan countries involved, but it is appalling, and should be outlawed.
