Ready to Enter The World’s Most Amazing Apartment Building?
Talk about a unique way to live!
This is “The Interlace” – built in Singapore, and designed by Ole Scheeren. It’s truly a wild jumble of apartment blocks seemingly stacked at random – which is part of why it’s so brilliant.

This building won the “World Building of the Year” award in 2015 – it’s an incredible series of apartment “blocks” that are stacked diagonally across one another to frame terraces and gardens.
I read online that the project was conceived as “the antithesis to tower blocks” – those dull cement towers that house thousands of people in dreary buildings.

The Interlace is a collection of 31 stacked apartment “blocks” – individual buildings that have been arranged and stacked in a honeycomb arrangement to frame eight large hexagonal courtyards.
Here is a cool video that explains the project, from “Trends Ideas” on YouTube:
Bravo to the entire team behind this incredible apartment building – I have posted other stories about architecture around the world that breaks the mod to give us art as well as housing – like these unique swimming pools:

And what about this hotel rooftop pool?

It looks like it goes on forever because it does!

Hi John, I am sure these apartments are expensive. I prefer living in a house but this is much better than a block, if you can afford it. Fascinating post, as always.

Wow, how fascinating! I spent my teenage years living in a dreary high-rise block. This complex is amazing.

I like it, and I’d like to be inside to find out if I’d like it. I don’t know if Singapore is prone to earthquakes, but I wonder how these buildings would do in a big shaker.

I agree with Pete, not sure I’d like to live there, but I do admire the design innovation here

This is brilliant! First glance might be confusing or whacky, but that’s not the case. It brings park-like nature and gardens into an urban setting.

I’m very impressed by the design of this complex, John. Not sure I would want to live there, but I can imagine it does provide that community feel mentioned in the video.
Best wishes, Pete.
