It’s A “Food Tree” Christmas!
Regardless of how you celebrate, the holidays are a time to “brighten up” your surroundings – to celebrate in what ever way works for you and your loved ones – but for me, it’s with food ornaments!
My good friend Steph got me another terrific one – this bacon and egg ornament hangs proudly on our tree – as does one that celebrates Seattle’s greatest hamburger stand!
This classic hamburger stand chain is all over Seattle, and even Bill Gates waits in line for a “bag of Dicks!”
It sits nicely along side another of Steph’s great gifts – the cheeseburger ornament!
My Sister-In-Law Lauren also got me one – maybe this one, there are multiple and I love them all!
All this is a setup for what we did weeks ago – to cheer us up, we decided to decorate our holiday tree earlier than ever – starting with our new “Kelly Clarkson Show” ornament!
We love buying new ornaments every year – well, I love getting them as a gift as well!
As you can see, I love our tree, but where did this tradition come from?
Well, according to the internet, which as you know can ALWAYS be trusted:
“Germany is credited with starting the Christmas tree tradition as we now know it in the 16th century when devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. Some built Christmas pyramids of wood and decorated them with evergreens and candles if wood was scarce.”
OK, I’ll buy that! It goes on to add:
“The evergreen fir tree has traditionally been used to celebrate winter festivals (pagan and Christian) for thousands of years. Pagans used branches of it to decorate their homes during the winter solstice, as it made them think of the spring to come.”
So, what began that way has become this!
Alex always jumps in with both feet and handles the important stuff: wrapping gifts that look professionally done, as opposed to my “ham-fisted” efforts; and speaking of ham, dressing the tree – with food!
Alex shared this on Instagram: our friends Karen and Jo sent me two new food ornaments: a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a cheeseburger and fries dish!
I mean, these are classics for the ages! Our main tree in the living room has more traditional ornaments, but these two made it to the big tree and are now part of that holiday tradition!
Elvis! Cheeseburgers! Bacon! Sushi! Check Out Our “Food Tree”!
In our back room, we have a smaller artificial tree with white branches, and this one is filled with food and more!
It all began when my friend Steph found this ornament and immediately thought of me: bacon of course!
More followed, and then people started to really shop for me!
Yes, I been receiving ornaments of all types of food: from bacon, it was an easy jump to an entire Parma Ham!
Bring On The Hanging Cheeseburgers!
From Bacon to Bacon Cheeseburgers…it was a natural food progression! My Sister-In-Law Lauren found a Cheeseburger ornament and the race was on to impress me – and did they ever!
Not to be outdone, a few friends decided to expand my food horizons with, what else?
Sushi!
Yes, Kareen led the way with our sushi ornaments, and I’ve gotten quite a collection going!
Alex was gifted some “Bundt” ornaments, because she has a staff member make a homemade “Bundt” for every staff meeting – now they are part of our Christmas tradition!
And because 2020 was, well 2020, my friend Karen and Bruce surprised us with these topical ornaments as well!
Yes, 2020 meant hand sanitizer and toilet paper – two things that dominated the headlines in 2020! I love these!
We love adding new ornaments to this “food tree” – but no matter how many cheeseburgers and other food items we get, there will always be room for “The King!”
Lots of other fun ornaments are on the tree as well…and many more to add going forward!
There are so many ways to celebrate the holidays with food – even a simple, dignified tree like this would wow your guests –
RIGHT?

I have looked, but not found, food ornaments here. We have many we have collected during our travels, John, and I have lots the boys made when they were smaller. I do love Christmas trees.

John!!! This is so you. I absolutely love your food tree. What a special treasure you have for many years to come. So, I must have a Kelly Clarkson ornament (of course)!! Please tell me how and where I can purchase one. It will be a reminder of the best of 2021. Merry Christmas to you and Alex!

A fabulous post, John…I think Pete’s correct “only in America” I haven’t seen a food tree ornament but maybe I haven’t looked hard enough…I’m on the case now albeit probably a tad late for this year…sigh…Happy Holidays 🙂 x

You sum that up well, as we have zero Christmas Tree ‘food ornaments’ for sale in England.
