Celebrating National Avocado Day – July 31, 2021!
OOPS!
I’m late with a great celebration National Avocado Day was Saturday!
Here’s a delicious way to celebrate – by eating some Avocado!
While many of us know it only as the base for Guacamole, the mighty Avocado has so many other reasons to celebrate it:
For example, the Avocado is packed with so many healthy benefits!
Avocados are great for your heart, for your vision, for weight loss – and even help against cancer! Yes, this adorable green fruit has amazing health benefits and so much more!
The terrific website “Trees.com” has published an appreciation for the Avocado:
Did you know?
- Avocado trees were first cultivated over 5,000 years ago
And what about this? If you thought you were the person behind the current “Avocado Toast” trend, think again!
- European sailors were the first to start the avocado toast trend! They would spread it on a piece of bread – who knew?
- Growing them helps balance the nitrates in the soil, which makes the soil more fertile for other plants
But even better – they taste amazing – especially as the greatest dip of all time: Guacamole!
Your Homemade Guacamole Recipe!
It’s the perfect dip to go with chips, crackers, breadsticks or even a finger! It’s easy and delicious to make – here’s just one of many Guacamole recipes to try:
- 3 avocados – peeled, pitted, and mashed
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup diced onion
- 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 roma (plum) tomatoes, diced
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 pinch ground cayenne pepper (Optional)
The folks at Trees.com were excited to share this information nd I was happy to oblige!

Not a ‘day’ for me, John. Can’t stand the stuff. I hate the texture of it, and it doesn’t taste of anything. 😦
Best wishes, Pete.
