Check Out These Mood-Sensing Cat Ears! “What The Friday!?” “Nicomimi” Are The Electronic Cat Ears That Know Your Feelings!

This “What The Friday?!?!?!” segment began when I came across this headline:

Mood-sensing ears for catgirls and catboys smash crowdfunding goal.

I was hooked! You see, once again a Japanese tech company, Neurowear made headlines when they developed Necomimi.

As reported at SoraNews24:

“Derived from the Japanese words neko mimi, “cat ears,” Necomimi was a wearable device that you put on your head and gave you a set of cat ears.”

Yes, You’ll Have “Cat Ears!”

These ears were more than just cute, though. The feature that made them amazing is that the headset could read your brainwaves, and then the ears would move automatically to reflect your current emotional state!

The new Necomimi operate similarly to the original version. You slip them over your head like a pair of headphones or hairband, then attach a clip to your left earlobe and position the sensor near your forehead.

Once the device is powered on and picking up your brain waves, the ears will stand up if you’re concentrating on something…or fold over when you are relaxed!

As always, those intrepid Reporters at SoraNews24.com had the whole story – check them out here – they are a treasure trove of fascinating stories:

Of course, this isn’t the first time I’ve shared stories of electronic cat ears – or cat tails!

This has long been a fascination of the Japanese, and you can see more here – including Robotic News Anchors too:

And of course, I shared this adorable Robot as well:

He was designed to cheer you up and put a smile on your face…check it out here:

  2. Hi John, I think the Lovot is adorable. I’ll leave the cat’s tails and ears to the kittens though. Have a great weekend.

  3. I have seen many photos online of Japanese girls wearing ‘ears’. I had always presumed they were related to their obsession with Cosplay.
    Best wishes, Pete.
