Riding Barcelona’s Sky-High Trams! Here’s Your “Birds Eye” View! #Wanderlust Rules!

Time To Fly Over Barcelona!

Barcelona is an amazing city to explore – and as the world slowly re-opens – safely of course, it’s time to share a bit of #wanderlust from this incredibly place!

This is the city’s center as seen from a hilltop that houses Lizard Park – an incredible place designed by Anton Gaudi, which includes of course, a lizard!

Now, here’s Barcelona from a different angle – because it’s even more exciting to explore Barcelona when you do it from the air!

Yep, these are shots of the city – and the waterfront – taken from an aerial tram that flies you over Barcelona – I mean, look at the W hotel on the edge of the Mediterranean!

Getting High On Barcelona!

I’ve shared a couple of our spanish adventures so far, but this one is from the best angle ever. Get ready to go sky high and enjoy a unique view of Barcelona!

These are pictures taken from our great aerial adventure over Barcelona – in one of the world’s most unique and beautiful public transportation systems!

Let’s go for a ride:

tram wires

Barcelona has an aerial tram that operates from the city’s famous Parc Monjuic to their waterfront…the park was home to the Olympics, and it’s a huge area that overlooks the entire city center!

The sky-high cable car connects Barcelona’s port with Miramar, on the slopes of Montjuic, the park that sits high atop Barcelona!  It was designed in 1926 to connect the 1929 city exhibition with its maritime section.

What’s amazing is that this is public transportation – just show up, buy a ticket, and take a ride to the top of the mountain – where there is that amazing park with spectacular views of the city…

world's coolest aerial tram

Now, as you can see, it’s not a big tram – in fact, I think we were with four other people and it was a bit cramped!

What’s cool is that you can start at the waterfront, where there are a lot of great shops, restaurants and bars to explore – a great place to begin or end a day of touring Barcelona…

Barcelona

Once you are in the tram, you go way way up over the city, and it gives you the most amazing view of the entire central area…

Barcelona and Famiglia

While you are in the air you can see the iconic Sagrada Famiglia, the church more than 130 years in the building! You can also get these amazing views at the end of the tram ride when you walk through Park Montjuic…

WS Barcelona from the sky

As you can see, the entire central part of Barcelona – home to all of its tourist destinations, are in a bowl that empties into the waterfront, so it’s a very easy town to navigate, especially when you have public transportation like this!

The tram towers go down the hill and end up at the waterfront – and the entire ride takes under fifteen minutes – plenty of time to get great pictures AND VIDEO like this!

Explore The Park!

The tram drops you off at the edge of the park, and you can explore for hours…there is an old fort up here, as well as a great museum and much more…then, time to head back to the water!

There isn’t much more to add except to share these amazing views from the tram, and to reiterate that this was one of the most enjoyable aspects to Barcelona…

Ok, here’s a look at what the interior of the tram tower looks like – there are two times when you actually go through the tower on your way down to the water….

I think we photographed most of the trip – since there is literally a 360 degree view, you excuse yourself and move around the tiny compartment to shoot every angle you can…

Once you are back on the ground, there is still so much more to see – like this amazing art!

There are so many amazing things to see in Barcelona, you almost forget to eat – well, that’s not possible, I mean – look at this Iberico ham!
